I've been playing it (albeit slowly) for about a week now, and I think it's great. No more unpausing when going to inventory, easier access to the sleep button, resting until healed, etc. I have noticed, however, that some of the earlier monsters are very tough. I cannot for the life of me kill the vampiric wolves. They keep popping up in areas I don't remember them from the original BG1, do now when I run into one, I high-tail it the other direction. Such bravery for the son of a god...

Of course, you have no idea you are at that point, so turning tail and running is entirely appropriate at that point.

does the totemic druid get spirit animals at level one i wonder - a stong summon that can only be hit by magical weapons would be a real force of nature in early BG1

How about Imoen... will she remain a thief when switching from BGI to BGII? If so, then it could seriously mess up some of the BGII cutscenes (Imoen casting magic missile).

Whats you party make-up? I'm a F/M/T with 18 STR and backstabx3 with a long sword+1. Vampiric Wolves die! And then the usual thief tactics: HiS, backstab, potion or scroll or spell of invisibility -> BACKSTAB !! I'm gonna backstab EVERYONE in the entire game NAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

No, she switches. It does not interfere with BG2 at all, so you still start out with Jaheira, Minsc, and the dual-classed Imoen in the dungeon with you. Supposedly, the story is that you left your former party behind to check something out on your own, thus the explanation for your other party members being gone (like Ajantis, Kivan, Xan, etc.). Kind of cheesy, but considering the difficulty of making dialogs for most of the NPCs from BG1 (along with changing the scenes where they show up in BG2), I can understand them taking the easy way out. Imagine how long it takes to create one NPC; now imagine doing a whole bunch!
