Spellhold Question - Page 2

I have never rec'd the second note, either, though I had never felt the urge to try as long as Six did. Last night, I found a fairly close save, made a dash for the robed figure, and click through it as fast as I could, pausing when inventory was full to check each one before dropping it on the ground. I kept at it clear up until you-know-who decided I was needed elsewhere. I think I could have rolled all 18s had I used those clicks more productively in the character generation screen.

I also tried getting a few messages, leaving the room, getting out of his line of sight, talking to someone else, then coming back to see him.

I don't know. Maybe it is party dependent. Those who have gotten the second message, have you had at least one of the two items you need that you could have at that point? If not, had you done the quest where you have the option of getting the second item? FWIW, in my case, I did not have the first, and I had done the quest such that I could never get the second. Possibly the message does not show up if it is no longer possible to get the second...

The only character that has ever gotten the second note is my Bard, Butterfingers. Any time I drag out his character file and play him, he gets the note. No other character of mine has ever seen the second note. Could it be that Int, Wis, and Chr have something to do with it? Butterfingers has good scores... 15/15/19 in those. He has never failed to produce the second note on the first try.

Might be the bard thing. My Sorcerer has fantastic IWC -- 18/18/20, though the 20 is from ring and cloak. I believe he has a 9 base Cha.

Perhaps in this case, considering how special it is, maybe your BASE charisma is looked at, unmodified from items? I have a Paladin with 19 charisma though, and, he has never got it... But it could be a combo of factors. Said Paladin only has 12 int. He has never got it. Come to think of it, I have a Cleric/Mage with 19/20/19 IWC, and, he has never got it come to think of it. He has better stats then my Bard. Now, now I am confused. My Bard has never once failed to get the second note... So what is the deciding factor?
