Anomen probs...

No way Six, Viconia is the best cleric in the game hands down, and she still makes a decent tanker if you give her the right equipment. Anomen... blah.

I prefer Viconia, if not because she is WAY less annoying then simply because her magic resistance is very helpful, and her dex gives her the best AC of all the NPCs if you give her a str belt/gauntlets of ogre str.

What the hell am i doing with Anomen? not sure how to take that? if its a reference to "why the hell am i using him because he's crap?"....well i only bought the game a few weeks ago and unlike the rest of you haven't completed the game 50 odd times with different characters!

No doubt he'll get replaced later on, but i haven't found anyone worth replacing him with, i went "Ummm..ahhhh..errr" for about 20 minutes thinking wether or not i should get rid of him and get Valygar instead...but he ain't got no spells so i decided against it!

ShadowChild... I made a joke about it because I'm a member of the AAS = Anti-Anomen Society, I had to react like this to make sure that I still got a place in the Society ranking ... you know what I mean .

I played with Anomen several time's until I got so sick of him that I begone experimenting on him with spells and all the cursed items in the game... this brought me to the AAS...

So I wasn't attacking you on your chose to have Anomen in your party... I was just letting you know that he can be a real pain in the ass when it come's with Dialog and such.

Aye i forgot to read the last bit of your post - the bit about the AAS - and yes i see what you mean about the dialogue bit! he can be a bit anal! so much so i had to quick save - then kill him - and then load it up again just to sastisfy ones blood lust!!

Were one to compare Anomen to Viconia... Anomen will win hands down, no contest, simply because he dualled from a Fighter. No other cleric in the game can Grandmaster AND dualwield COMPETENTLY.

Anomen also has more HP, and seriously... Viconia may be able to tank, but that is like saying dogs can swim. YES, they can swim, but they SUCK at swimming if you compare them to... say... a swordfish.

Spellcasting wise... what is one less level 3-4 slot? [img]tongue.gif[/img] You may not even notice the difference if SixOfSpades did not point it out.

Personally, I think the appeal of Anomen would increase dramatically if they changed his speech in response to a reputation of 19-20 when he passes his test. Anomen's only failing is his personality, but ignoring the unchangable speech scripts, his attitude dramatically changes when he passes his test. He actually becomes a likable guy. To further see this change, have Keldorn in your party to serve as Anomen's guide to knighthood. The dialogue they have between them is good, and will hopefully, make you see that Anomen is not always annoying.

You have to look past the fighting abilities Dundee, would you rather have a guy that recites lines from a rejected love novel, or have a blood thristy (bleep) on your team instead? If you throw Red Dragon armor, Flail of the Ages, Shield of Harmony, boots of speed, amulet of power, and a Girdle of Stone Gaint strength or Gauntlets of Orge Power, Viconia will become one tough chick to beat. And her cleric spells are simply put The Best. The reason I say this is because she gets many, many 7th level spells that are very good. But you must stop a think a second, why would I have a cleric over a fighter/cleric, because if you already have enough tanks in your party, it *doesn't matter*. If you have enough muscle to send to the front lines, the rest is cake. It just matters how you use them, not how strong they are... in some cases anyway [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Viconia is tough tooled up that way - and she has a good dexterity that Anomen lacks. But, well, if you put all that gear on Boo he'll become one tough hamster to beat as well.

My big problem with Viconia is the evil version of Holy Smite (did I get that right?) doesn't hurt anyone in the game except other party members and hapless commoners. Foregoing an early ranged area-of-effect spell that does decent damage and only affects the enemy is a big problem for me.

I've never had both Anomen and Keldorn in the party - I'd love to see it. But, it strikes me that Anomen + Keldorn + only 1 guantlets of Dexterity = 4 points of party-agregate AC loss.

Viconia is decent, but with no Ironskins and crappy HP, a couple of Critical Hits means she's history. Also, without enhancements, she's not strong enough to wear the heavier armors. Anomen, however, has quite good Saving Throws, and can actually be your paty's only Tank.

Viconia is crack shot with a Sling--but Anomen has more attacks per round, plus the THAC0 bonus from his Fighter half outweighs his relative DEX loss--and 90% of us give him the Gauntlets anyway.

Viconia has awesome Magic Resistance. That I will grant you. (As if I had a choice in the matter. )

Which is more annoying to have in your party: A pompous bastard or someone who forces you to pay extra on expensive items?

As a side-note, any of the Clerics in the game will eventually enable your Thieves & Bards to cast things like Draw Upon Holy Might. [img]smile.gif[/img]

And Six, the items I had mentioned are not as dependable at the end of SoA as they were in the beginning. There are much stronger suits of armor that I can throw on my main character, but I just prefer Viconia over Anomen anyway. I only used him once, and haven't cared for him since [img]tongue.gif[/img]
