Last I check EQ was around $12(us)/month. In addtion to buying Planes of Power you would also need to buy EQ itself, as PoP is just an add-on.
There is no way to play it without paying the monthly fee, as all you are buying in the box is the client portion of the game. The server code is not for sale, and even if it was you would not be able to afford the hardware to run it (each EQ world 'server' is actually many machines linked together, last I heard over a dozen). I have heard rumors of a single player version of EQ coming out next year.

This needs to be in the misc crpg forum.I suggest copying the thread deleting this one and pasting it in the other forum.Or just have a mod move it.
