Question Mark

in addition to 2nd edition AD&D as revruby mentioned, I have played Werewolf the Apocalypse (in a WoD campaign), a few failed attempts at playing the Amber Diceless RPG online with the group I gamed with in Kuwait, (2nd ed AD&D), I would love to get into Toon, and Paranoia, but trying to find them is nearly impossible.

I DM and play 2nd ed. AD&D pretty much weekly. I love shadowrun, haven't playyed that one in a while.
Have you seen the SR3 ruleset yet? We've been using it for close to a year now, kinda grows on you. Some of the players think adepts got shafted in the new rules, but I'm not so sure. I think I like the new way skills are handled, even though the skillweb has gone the way of the dodo.

I used to GM Earthdawn and play Rolemaster, very often when I was in Uni. Unfortunately, we got separated and only meet once a year now.
Earthdawn! Cool stuff...used to play that too, the group kinda died a quiet death, with FASA killing the product line and the students of the group moving away. I still have my Windling Wizard ("It's not the size of the weapon - it's the fury of the attack!!" )

What was the Amber game like? I remember seeing that on the shelf, never did scrape up the energy (or the funds) to get really interested, but being a major Zelazny fan I was tempted.

I wish I was still playing. A friend got me started two years ago, and then he decided to stop over the summer. I have the PHB, DMG, Psionic Handbook, dice, tons of stuff, and no one to play with! Woe is me. Jeesh. I think my eye is going to start twitching now

Hell yeah! I still think that 2nd Edition with the player's options (characters and combat) kicks 3rd Edition's @$$ any day!

I agree on combat, but character options are something else. 2nd ed. is too strict on who can be what, while 3rd lets anyone be anything. I've only played 3rd, so I'm a little biased, sorry if my comment is vague

I DM, and one of my friend's CN dwarf took off his armor in the middle of combat to urinate on an orc. The next round, an orc shaman criticalled him. Guess what happened.

baddies also have a certain # of points they can spend on stats, and it's entirely dependent on how many points you bid on your characters stats for how many they have to spend to attain the same scores, making them possibly better than the characters.

it had the potential to be alot of fun, but the game died both times due to a lack of interest and participation. so aside from creating two relly cool characters I don't know much about it, lol.

Ah Earthdawn. The gamers where munchkins but then again so was I. So the four characters were:

A Netherraider (Sky Raider - Nethermancer multiclassed)
An Elemental Warrior (Warrior - Elementalist multiclassed)
A Bladeweaver (Swordmaster - Wizard multiclassed)
A Mistwalker (Cavalryman - Illusionist multiclassed)

And their race ? Drakes, slightly nerfed Drakes, but still able to shift to small dragon form. That's not all: to enhance the Roleplay factor each had one or more severe mental illness (paranoia, delusion, schizophrenia, you name it). Psychopatic powerhouses, I had the greatest laughs of my life GMing them.

I personally play an Arcane Trickster (Rogue/Sorcerer) in 3rd Edition
I'm gonna be dungeon master next saturday though for a one time scenario

Those players will be

Fey'ri (Tiefling Elf) Assassin (Rogue/Ranger)
Human Wizard
Tigerman Fighter
Drowmare (Nightmare Centaur) Ranger
Human Cleric

It's gonna be an evil party so thats gonna be a first for us

The best fun I ever had was playing my arab terrorist in shadowrun, complete with unintelligible accent ( had English at 3 and I roleplayed it!)

IIRC, he had amnesia, and a powerful enemy as flaws. The rest of the group included a jamaican hougan and an adept with a very sharp sword. Almost every session the group was in stitches from my accent and the roleplaying. Got a lot of karma for that...
