Haven't got that far myself, but I remember Bardez posting on the subject. However he handles it, its got to be contrived.
Bub snikt is known from ages ago. Should be fixed in patch 1.7. When you installed the patches, did you copy the dialogue.tlk into the main folder? If not it will be in your override folder.

It might be possible, youd have to look at the ascension installer and see how it all works. Then you'd need to restore anything that was overwritten when ascension was originaly installed and remove all ascension components.
Its not hard, just mind-numbingly tedious. Unless the dialogue.tlk needs altered, then its both hard and mind-numbingly tedious.

You should be able to use a BG1 character in ToB, the problem is that you cant use the import screen, you have to run through SoA.
