Or is Mr. Underhill simply trying to pull a scam, "save the poor kobold, your donations are excepted." and lines of different words. I wish to meet one of his integrated kobolds, and Mr. Underhill, I think it would be appreciated by many of your fans and critics alike.
Yeah! We want proof! We want proof! How about that Paladin kobold you've been talking about?

Hear - hear!!

The reasons for all this secretiveness of where this school for 'educating' kobolds is situated, could be:

1) Mr. Underhill is (as earlier mentioned by another poster) just creating a 'good' cause so he is able to collect money from the other inhabitants of the sword coast to support his 'good cause'. In other words: The scool and the educated kobolds are NOT EXISTING.

2) Mr. Underhill has discovered a way of controlling the hordes of kobolds to gain world domination (also mentioned by a previous poster). His goal is to make all the kobold hunters of the sword coast unpopular (and unemployed) in the community of the sword coast. Once he has reduced the former heroes of the sword coast to simple beggars, he will release the hordes. Does the name "Peter of the North" ring a bell? (A wild shot: Could he hide the 'school' somewhere in the Firewind Ruins. Could the whole idea behind 'lurking' heroes down into the ruins be as simple as a method of reducing the number of heroes (kobold hunters) on the sword coast? As far as I know, no one has yet succeeded in emptying the ruins for kobolds).

Until I see some proof from B.Y.O.B. that supports some of the words we have seen so far, I will consider 1) and 2) and even a combination of the two as possible.

I have travelled a lot in the area around the cities south of Baldurs Gate. I haven't noticed any difference in the behaviour of the kobolds lately. If Mr. Underhill showed me one of the educated kobolds, I would surely notice the difference. If I am allowed to cast a non-harming spell on the creature, I will be able to notice if the creature is under the influence of a charm (or other mind affecting spells) as well.

Mr. Underhill's school is not working. He is trying to educate adult Kobolds, well everyone knows you can't teach an old dog new tricks. That is why we must work with the younger Kobolds that have been abandonded and abused by their parent Kobolds. The hunters can still have dibs at the uncivilized Kobolds but we will create a new civilized group of Kobolds that will be just another people of the Sword Coast.

InsaneBane, my dear F.o.P. representative, let me reassure you that both Mr. Baggins' school and his kobolds are as real as the funds he is receiving from his fellow colleagues at BYOB. The reason you have not found any educated kobolds in your journeys through the Sword Coast is that Mr. Baggins keeps his charges closeby, and all those who wish to learn are doing so in the relative safety of his village. Those who have no desire to give up their ways of life leave, it is true, but they leave with their education lacking. They are in no way comparable to the envisioned end products of this particular experiment.

As to your other concerns, I am sure that on the off chance that Mr. Baggins is indeed raising an army, and evidence of such intentions is severely lacking, there will be plenty of heroes, as well as regular soldiers, to combat this theoretical threat. Is it not the task of organisations like the F.o.P. to ensure heroism remains profitable, and heroes keep their weapons sharp? If kobolds are to be intigrated in our society, should not you teach your followers to use another foe for target practice instead? If you do your job then Mr. Baggins can do his, and it will (hopefully) be to the benefit of us all.

The funding for Mr. Underhill's admirable undertaking should be discussed in greater detail. In addition, we need to set up guidelines and requirements for instruction as well as the various course curriculums. Instructor education requirements and compenstion levels also need to be determined. We have much work to do, my fellow congressmen.

I am also pleased to announce that the Flaming Fist have issued a restraining order for grungi, requiring him to refrain from any contact with Wilma Flintstone.

Aye, Keraptisdm, I too think more details would be in the best interest of this research experiment, and, as a consequence, in the interest of the succesful integration of kobolds into our modern-day society. A society where there is room even for those like Grungi, I must add.

As any decent scientist would, Mr. Baggins will have been keeping records of his incomes and spendings, for even caught up in a noble pursuit as sience, we must not forget the value of currency to that very society we are striving to make kobolds a part of.
Funders will like to have access to these books, and I cannot blame them.

However, for this project to be a success it is important to keep outside influences to a bare minimum. We should not ask Mr. Baggins to provide us a detailed report on every copper piece spent.
If we could all trust Mr. Baggins to use his funds sparingly and donate any excesses to help fund further operations in this field, as well as providing us with the aforementioned details after the project were completed, it would definately run much more smoothly.

Unfortunately, there was and still is a lot of opposition to Mr. Baggins' project. Which is why I would ask of Mr. Baggins that he provides us with weekly updates with reasonable amounts of detail, as opposed to no updates on one hand, or daily updates describing the purchase detailing every single wooden spoon and crayon purchased on the other.

what u mean by dat? me in society, me loved by society, me bash your pointyeared ead through a door for dat.

Hmmmmm why would you say a horrible thing like that, grungi may be less educated than the average kobold, and a bloodthirsty killer to boot, but he has plenty of good qualities like, erm, swordsmanship, big axe skills, club abilities, plenty of stamina, great assassin, highly skilled at butchering, ermmmmmmmm well yes you see, hes got plenty of good things going for him

oh and yes it was indeed grungi as in me not as in my character (the thick barbarian with the big sword and assorted weaponary) that stated that baggins is building an army for world conquest, i attempted to take it on with an army of xvarts but they were distracted by a particularly juicy cow resulting in a victory for the kobolds, but i shall be back, im trying gnolls this time

Nah, try trolls or Goblins, nice to have an army that doesn't die or one that is more intelligent than kobolds but still able to be controlled.
