Alright Barry, since no-one can get it.... here's a clue

The director is an american, famous for his animated bits in a classic British sketch show, and it had a surprisingly well known cast for an obscure film.

OOOOKay! That makes it Gilliam then I would have thought! But what film? I am assuming not 12 Monkeys as it is not all that obscure really. I will guess "Fear and Loathing in LAs Vegas", although that is a complete guess.

As for a clue for mine, Vim Diesel is half of the first conversation and he says the line from later on. One cool character in the fim in question, thats for certain.
