I actually know most of the answers to the trick questions, but not the ones that are relatively simple.

Methinks ye won't have te wait long!
![]() 1) A Mage who has been Silenced can still cast Identify. [1 point] False. Being Silenced blocks all spellcasting (except Vocalize, of course). Wearing armor will block Identify, as well. 2) Containers such as Gem Bags and Scroll Cases may be bought, but not resold. [1 point] True. No merchant will purchase any item of type "Container." 3) If you rescue Belden Daglefodd in Drow form and try to collect the reward as a surfacer (or vice versa), Therndle is smart enough to notice the discrepancy and call you on it. [3 points] True, oddly enough. Amazing what details BioWare coded into the game, especially when you consider how much they left out. 4) It is possible to visit the Druid Grove without putting Trademeet on your map first. [2 points] False. The only 2 places to get your map updated with the Druid Grove are 1) Within Trademeet itself, and 2) Roger the Fence, in following up the Gong quest--and Roger adds both areas to your map simultaneously. So it's impossible to be at the Druid Grove and not know where Trademeet is. 5) If you have erroneous or unneccesary quest entries cluttering up your Journal (such as Delon telling you about the Umar Hills quests in Chapter 6, when you already completed them in Chapter 2), you can edit or delete them simply by double-clicking on them. [3 points] True! Hooray! Now we can all go home and delete that stupid "Tracking Irenicus" quest that gets started in Chapter 5, and can never be resolved. 6) Know your Birds--Test your ornithological acumen by matching each of the following characters with the bird that Haer'Dalis associates with them! [1 point each] Aerie = Dove Haer'Dalis = Sparrow Jaheira = Ptarmigan Nalia = Loon PC = Raven Valygar = Hawk Viconia = Blackbird Yoshimo = Parrot Those who got 'Sparrow' and 'Raven' wrong have obviously never used Haer'Dalis. 'Dove' and 'Ptarmigan' were the next easiest, since Haer has many banters with Aerie and calls her a "mourning dove" several times, and entering Waukeen's Promenade with Haer and Jaheira will trigger a really fun banter in which he calls her a "frumpy ptarmigan." 'Parrot' should make sense, if you know about Yoshimo. 'Blackbird' could be referring to either Valygar or Viconia, but 'Hawk' is definitely more like Valygar. And since the only one left is Nalia, she must be the 'Loon.' 7) What are the names of the dogs in the de'Arnise Keep? [1 point each] Rex, Rover, Sparky, and Spot. Their names are actually emblazoned for posterity on the cauldron of Dog Stew. Who says they died in vain? 8) In how many places in SoA can you reliably find a Ruby Ring? [2 points per correct answer, -1 point per INcorrect answer, +1 point for having the correct total] The correct locations are: Pickpocket Acton Balthis, Pickpocket Madam Nin, and Saerk Farrahd's Estate. We've had questions that cater to Warriors, Priests and Wizards--it was time for the Rogues! ![]() (By the way, if you should ever come across a Ruby Ring in any other location, please do let me know. [In SoA, that is. I know about the one in the Marching Mountains.]) 9) Where in the game would you find this? [2 points] In the center of the Lair of the Unseeing Eye. 10) In my Override folder, I found the following image: Identify its significance and/or relevance to the game. [2 points] It's a very accurate map of the Temple of Lolth in Ust Natha. 11) What / where is this building? [2 points] The building has no purpose, other than to be walked through--you can find it in the southwest part of the Government District. Hey--could it be used as an obstacle to cheese Kuroisan with? Hmmmm. 12) What is this object? [1 point] It is one or more Gold Pieces. 13) This pretty window seat is located....where? [2 points] On the second floor of Kalah's Palace. 14) And this? [2 points] This is the archway over the door leading down to Firkraag's lair. 15) No, it's not the tryouts for Riverdance, it's just a rather morbid question.....Identify the corpses of the NPCs! (All of their Clothing Colors are exactly the same as when you first recruit them.) 1/2 a point per correct name. Top Row: Nalia, Keldorn, Yoshimo, Mazzy, Jaheira, Haer'Dalis, Valygar, Edwin. Bottom Row: Imoen, Anomen, Korgan, Cernd, Jan, Minsc, Viconia, Aerie. 16) How would a Paladin go about getting the object in Question 12 into his/her Inventory? [2 points] There are only two ways to get Gold into your Inventory (as opposed to having it directly transferred to your Gold account): If you cannot Pickpocket, you must go into a Temple of Ilmater and have Habib throw it at you. 17) Who offers the very cheapest Identify service in all of Athkatla? [2 points] Arledrian, the Shadow Thief in Gaelan Bayle's house, charges the low, low fee of 75gp for the service. Some readers, however, wrote in to say that the Bonus Merchants, Diedre and Joluv, also charge 75 gold. pcgiant tested & confirmed this, so if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me. 18) Without using Containers, how many Arrows can a Kensai carry? [2 points] Seven hundred and sixty. 40 Arrows per slot, 16 Inventory slots, 3 Ammunition slots. Yes, even though Kensai cannot use missile weapons, they can equip the ammo--a trait also shared by Monks and Cavaliers. Partial credit was given for those who did not know this completely trivial quirk. 19) Name the item from its description: [3 points] --------------------------------------------------------------- This odd [BLANK] was constructed by nomads that once inhabited the Forest of Mir, a group long since absorbed into "civilized" society and forgotten. Examination reveals fine weaving of animal and human hair bound together by enchantment, though how this was done is lost to time. --------------------------------------------------------------- It's the Shield of the Lost+2. 20) Where could you buy Orbbz'hin, Kulg, and Streea? (Yes, all 3 are available in the same place.) [3 points] This was was SO obscure, I doubt that anybody got it. In my quest to find out what Drow drink, since they can't get grapes, I asked the Drow Bartender in Ust Natha. This is what he tried to sell me. (Well, he also stocks Mead and Bitter Black Ale, but then the question wouldn't be as weird.) 21) Where would you go to find the ONLY Star Diopside Gem in the entire game? [2 points] To the container in the mouth of the statue that "appears to be screaming," in the Unseeing Eye quest areas. Userunfriendly, the gem in the Tutorial is actually a Star Sapphire. 22) What weapon in SoA best deserves the name "Mini-Carsomyr?" [Explain why for the full 4 points] The Flame of the North+2 is not only a 2-Handed Sword that grants Magic Resistance to the user, but also does extra damage against Chaotic Evil opponents. It's even closer than the Purifier, in my opinion. 23) From whom do you actually learn about Vithal and the "A mage Imprisoned?" quest? (Or did you think you could only hear about it by reading walkthroughs?) [4 points] You got full credit for stating that it was one of the Duergar merchants in the Underdark. 2 undocumented extra credit points, however, went to anyone who gave his name: Uder Mordin. 24) By what name is Celisa Aleconnor better known? (She's from Waterdeep, and her father is a wealthy mead-maker and owner of a chain of festhalls.) [2 points] This is the lame alias that Edwina cooks up in response to Degrodel's inquisitions. 25) Name That Genie! 1 point for the name of each named Djinn or Efreet in the game, with an additional 1/2 point for each one's location. There are 6 named Djinni in the game, but anything beyond 4 was extra credit. They are: Aataqah: In the "Crystal Room" of Irenicus's Dungeon Maalaq: In Irenicus's Pocket Plane of Air Khan Zahraa: Leader of the Trademeet Genies Faafirah: Inside Khan Zahraa's tent Taquee: Outside Khan Zahraa's tent Dola Fadoon: Torture victim in Ust Natha 26) My party includes Mazzy, Valygar, Anomen, Jan, Edwin, and myself, a Female Avenger who will later Dual-class to Fighter. On our triumphant return to Athkatla in Chapter 6, we were ambushed by Kruin and his Githyanki. Since there were no commoners around (night-time, in the middle of Waukeen's Promenade), we felt free to cut loose with all sorts of spells during our battle: Chain Lightning, Cloudkill, Confusion, Domination, Haste, Minor Spell Deflection, and Symbol: Stun. Oddly enough, not a single Cowled Wizard showed up to object to our unlicensed use of magical energy. How did I accomplish this? Explain my method(s), at 1 point per spell. Find a way to get all of those spells cast in a single round for 3 extra credit points. The following things will bring the Cowled Wizards: Casting Wizard spells from memory, casting Wizard spells from scrolls, preparing a Squencer/Contingency, and releasing a Sequencer/Contingency. With these actions off-limits, the only way to get all 7 spells cast was as follows: Round 1: Avenger casts Call Woodland Beings Round 2: Mazzy casts Haste (innate ability) Valygar casts Minor Spell Deflection (Stalker kit-specific spell) Anomen casts Symbol: Stun (standard Cleric spell) Jan uses Wand of Cloudkill (Quick Item) Edwin casts Domination using the Staff of Command (equipped item) Nymph casts Confusion (spell cast through a Summon) and Avenger casts Chain Lightning (Avenger kit-specific spell). I'm particularly fond of this question because I managed to get all of the spells cast using 7 different methods. It took me a long time to figure it out, so I'm allowed to be proud of it. 27) What the hell do the following algebraic equations have to do with BG2:SoA? [6 points]
EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ToB QUESTION: What is the single deciding factor that determines whether you complete Abazigal's Lair in a matter of days.....or a matter of hours? [4 points] If you're the bold, hardy, do-it-yourself type, you can clear the whole dungeon in a few hours. Even if you make extreme use of the Wish-Rest trick, it'll still take you a couple of hours. But if you subcontract the Gauth Eyestalk quest out to Bondari & Company, when they come back it's "Several Days Later," and you're Fatigued. And them's the answers, peoples! Hope it was worth the wait! Congratulations and hearty backslaps all round, with especial kudos going to Pirengle, as the new reigning champion of the GBPitBSoATQ's!!! Woot and wooting!
