The closest I have come to death was when I was on holiday in Spain. A carbomb exploded around the corner from my hotel. The morning it hapenned I was having breakfast in a cafe nearby. Then I heard a huge explosion and I felt the ground shake. I realised that I passed the place where the bomb went off every day and i had actually passed the car itself a few minutes before it exploded. If I had of dragged myself out of bed just a few minutes later.........

I started drinking early that day. (Luckily if your above 16 you can drink alcohol in Spain. )

Can't say that I have. Although I never know how close I come when sleeping (read a dreadful article a few weeks ago). It really spooked me. The closest I've come was when I was 6 years old when I had the mumps. Ran a very high fever, 41,9 C, and couldn't do anything. Cold showers and ice packs apparently did the trick though.

Once. Sailing club. Heading out to the race start in my topper (13ft single sailed boat) and capsized. Normaly no problem, being dunked into the north sea in march is an excellent way of waking up, but this time I fell to the back. If I'd been more awake I'd have been over the top and onto the daggerboard, right the boat inside of 3 seconds and never get wet. I wasnt, and fell to the back, which is highly unusual. Worse, the rudder came off at that moment (and I did check the damn clips regularly, so I dont know why) and the transom cleat failed. I ended up getting caught up in the lines, and was tied to the boat pretty securely. Luckily my head was above the waterline, or nearly so anyway. I could breathe most of the time.

Of course, with the race about to start all the officials were busy elsewhere, and the other competitors figured I could get the boat up myself. Took me twenty minutes to get untangled and a further 15 to get onshore without a rudder. Single-sailed boats really suck rudderless, at least with a two-sailed you can steer. Bloody cold as well, water at 3 degrees is fine for a dip with a good wetsuit, but 20 minutes is a bit much.

Incidently, the trick to survivng undertows is to swim parrallel to the shore - no one on earth can swim against an undertow for long, so your only chance besides rescue is to get out of it.

I had this life threathening brain disease since I was teenager, the doctor gave me no hope for survival. so me and my parents just get on with the life waiting for the day to finally arrive. early last year, some doctor said they will be experiment something about new method ( whatever that is ) and they want to use me ( since I'm dying anyway ). My parents were reluctant but I insist that I want. so I go ahaed to take the operation. The operation was a success. I'm still alive today.

The doctors warn me not to go near things that will give radiation for fear that the disease might come back. but here I am typing these things in front of the monitor. I still watch TV as much as possible. hehehe...looks like I'm inviting the disease to come back.

You could say I came 'rather' close. Police said I had a 1/10 escaping alive............was totally broken into bits though, but am fine now Notice how the roof over the drivers head collapsed.......Good job I wasnt wearing my seatbelt and left the car via a window whilst it was rolling. Crashed another since Got numerous, and I mean numerous scars to remind me, inluding very bad lacerations, burns, broken bones and torn muscles.

Yes and no.......

I put my hand through a window when I was younger, cutting a large hole in my wrist 2mm away from the main artery. The hole, as I remember it (Its one of those images that stick in your mind, I'm sure you'll know what I mean) Was about 2 - 2.5 cm across and about the same deep. Very scary. And It still does go through my head. I've got a permanant reminder with a scar and the fact I cannot operate my right hand very well, and it is also sensitive to touch. A bit of a bugger really, I sliced, the ulner nerve (sp?).
If it did cut the main artery I'm not sure what would of happened, but I'm glad I didnt

Edit:

P.S It was Lavi's fault... He really annoyed me and ran off outside the house and I wouldnt let him back in. I was sat with my back to the door not letting him in. When I went for a drink he opened the door and I ran to close it so he couldnt get in, and my hand went straight through. Git.

When I was 16, I was swiming in the sea at southend, a seaside resort not to far from London, I considered myself quite a strong swimmer so swam out a fair way towards some boats that had anchored, when I decided to turn back, the force of the tide going out made things very hard going, I remember treading water and looking at the people on the boats, but deciding not to shout as I didn't want to embarass myself!! how weird is that?, I tried to swim again but gave up and tried to tread water only to find my legs crashing against the seabed which even though I was a long way out was there due to the tide going out..arse. I stood up and walked casually back to my towel, I belived it was the end when I gave up not knowing I was in shallow water.. Lesson learnt.

Also had to land in the crash position on a flight to Orlando with my brother and two sisters after a 'wheel not locked' warning light came on, had to circle for the longest 40 mins of my life to burn fuel. Althugh we landed at an angle the wheel was fine and the fire crews returned to their sheds foam intact.

It was funny on the return flight two weeks later, when the stewardess gave the saftey demo most of the passangers, who had been on the outward flight started laughing.

It also made most of the theme park rides non events

I thiught I almost had it when I was crossing a road to get to school. It's small, but in the morning and afrternoon, it's busy. I couldn't see past a car in thr road, so I assumed nothing was coming, couldn't hear over the traffic on the main road. Stepped out in to the middle of the road, and there's this car almost on top of me, and it sin't easy trying to leg it with a heavy bag, and I thank my lucky stars it hadn't chosen that moment to come unclipped.

i now have an awful phobia of crossing road, and hate cars even more.

it didn't help that my dad and his car were hit by a lorry.

Hmmm I can't remember any life-threatening incidents. Unless you call almost being hit by cars a load of times ...but nah I don't really call those life-threatening, the worst would've been a few broken bones.
My worst injury ever is also a cracked toe I got while playing football... not exactly serious.
