I've played the game through twice now, and I'm thinking of soloing with a bard. What items should I get for him? I never played with a bard and dont know a thing about them. Any tactics or good items I can get would help.(Like items only bards can use. I know ive seen some somewhere but I cant remember where).

Look for the instruments that have special abilities, there is one that casts Confusion I think

also, there at least one bard only armor that I assume allows spell-casting

Boots of Speed are a must for any solo game of course

Depending on your kit, either go for lots of summoning spells and singing to boost them (Skald), buffing your own melee abilities (Blade), or staying hidden and using your song against your enemies (Jester)

what are the advantages of a straight bard? increased luck with the song...doesn't seem too good, quite underpowered compared to the kits, increased pickpocketing, but still its nothing, because pots of master theivery will boost PP for any bard anyway.

I think it would be QUITE hard to solo a jester.. you can do anything while your bard songs are on lol. If I was to solo a bard, I would make it a Blade. A Blade can take care of himself in battle and are just plan cool

Soloing a jester is possible - imagine casting an invisibility spell, finding a group of enemies, singing your "confusion" song, and then watch them whack away at each other while you remain invisible. In many cases, however, this is about as exciting as watching paint dry because of the length of time it will take. Imagine trying to do this in a room full of trolls!

Soloing a Jester is really easy. Use your song to wear down enemies, keep a few summons, stay invisible with the Cloak of Non Detection. When stuff gets low on hit points, cast death spell or cloudkill to finish them off quickly so you get the experience points. Confused monsters that kill each other do nothing to give you exp.

Soloing a Skald is also sickningly easy.

If that is easy, what would you say for a Blade?

Some bard-items:
Melodic Chain +3 - Planar Prison
Methild's Harp - Illithid city
Azlaer's Harp - Stronghold quest (IIRC)
Harp of Discord - Mekrath's abode

I am sure there is another harp.
