that's simply not true. i don't understand the attitude that a magazine panders to it's advertisers. i have worked for 2 different magazines, one a well-known gaming rag, and it's most definitely just the opposite. not only will a publisher buy as much space as they can to promote games, but they send all kinds of gifts, tchotchkes, and freebies to get a writer to spend some time playing it. and when a company's product gets horrible reviews, guess what? they usually try to double its ad space in the hopes that flashy ads will outweigh what is written about it. the writers at a magazine are professionals, and as such, take pride in their work (no matter how much they try to make themselves appear to be snot nosed little brats in their reviews ![]() V***V

Hey Rudedude! You know it was probalby marketing types (no offense to the marketers here) who did the promising of good reviews, our marketers promise all kinds of things....but when reality hits and it gets to the reviewers Ill bet things were a bit different. Remember different departments don't always work as a team I am glad to hear good thing about the game though, I have been debating getting it or not! |

The reviews I have read in many a gaming magazine have been quite fair over the past few years. I do not see pandering to the gaming industry from the reviewers...
I have seen some outlandish reviews printed to hype the game, but I have read some pretty good reviews. The Morrowind review is a good example of a fair review. The writer simply stated his experience with the game. Hell, Wizardry 8 got a better score than Morrowind, and rightfully so. The review, again was honest and brought out a few shortcommings of the game, but was fair and did not kiss the ass of the publishers/developers... There used to be a time many a moon ago when you could read a review and see how much pull the gaming industry had upon the gaming magazines... Not so much anymore...

I think the game should have 99% because this game must be the best ever made in the history!

BTW I didn't find a Bethesda ad in the mag. though i really didn't look. I just checked the list of ads in the back. I dod not look for second names. Oh and in reading the reviews, I look more at the pros and cons than the review itself.
