Now, I realize that just about everyone when they come up with some grand way to do something, they say it's the best, but I guess I'll have to say it too. I do honestly believe it is at least ONE of the best ways to beat him.
I discovered it when my mom (who's not as good at the game as I) needed help beating the evil Red Dragon because she had tried again and again without success. Her biggest problem was that her characters weren't a extremely high level (I remember doing it once with say level 14 and 15 characters). So, since good old Firkraag just tells you to come back, that means he retains that blue ring around him. First, put all the spells you want on yourself (haste, stength, etc.), then position yourself as you wish around him, and take your most pathetic (though none are particularly "pathetic" in this game) character and put them right up in front of the dragon. You will proceed to "talk it to death." Start attacking with your good plus weapons and have your magic user throw some magic missles and dispel magics at it. It takes a while for Firkraag to turn from his blue ring to his red ring and start attacking you. Well, seize the opportunity of the moment and talk to him with that one "pathetic" character. He'll groan about you coming back to pester him and then you kindly say, "Oh, sorry to have bothered you." Guess what, he's still blue. Repeatedly talk to him again and again (every two or three seconds or so) while your other characters proceed to dice him to pieces. It may be really boring, but if you have low level characters or don't want to even sustain a scratch, it's the way to go!

Wow. What do you mean, exploiting bugs in the game... Nice find, though!

Thats a good find. I dont use any kind of cheese tactics on dragons, cause i think theyre one of the coolest enemies around. theyre not that hard after youve faught the battle over and over again after many games. i beat firgraak with a level 15 swashbuckler alone. just gotta use lots of potions(i wanted to simulate a solo game so i didnt use the mages to buff up). potions as in:
potions of fire resistance and magic resistance, oils of speed, potions of defense and of course healing potions(duh) to name a few.

oh, almost forgot

WELCOME TO IRONWORKS

Big Red is a Pansy. I can take him out easily with a level 9 to 11 party, no sweat.

Cast Spook, pelt with missles, cast Spook, pelt with missles. Once he is worn down, move in for the kill.

If the dragon is running away from you in fear, he can't hurt you nor can he disrupt your spells.

If you don't have Spook, well, there are a million different ways, some of them don't even involve cheese. It is both possible and quite easy for a low level party to bust Big Red's chops using no cheese. Insect Swarms, Harm, Greater Malison, Lower Resist, Polymorph (Yes, you can turn Big Red into a squirrel. Beware, he becomes a flying squirrel with a lethal Wing Buffet and he becomes QUITE ANGRY) If you have a Cleric, try Miscast Magic, followed by Doom, then Finger of Death. That should pretty much end the fight right there.

For being a big scary dragon, he sure is a weenie.

Unless Im missing something, thats the Fake-Talk™ strategy.

Edit-Oh wait. You are using a "decoy" instead of a force talk/attack. Nevermind.

To whom it may concern:
The fake talk involves a few easy steps:
1). Pause the game
2). Force-talk an enemy with a cyan circlet
3). Force-attack without un-pausing
4). Repeat every few seconds

Basically, the enemy just stands there, expecting you to talk to him, while you beat him to a pulp. Fun, but the cheese is way too strong.

Easy.

1)plant 5 traps at his feet. more is better. (spike traps and a time trap make it more fun!)
2)shoot arrows of venom at him with the tuigan bow.
3)watch him die.

Do any of the modded scripts make trap laying a hostile action?

Easiest way is to have your mage cast Summon Planetar from a safe distance and hmmm, yes that should be it.

7 spike traps will do almost anything in. Almost.
