Gee, Kat, and she won't leave you alone in the house? With your track record of tub-overflowing? Shame on her. Be sure to take your PC along.

[1] : Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)
Socage \Soc"age\, n.[From Soc; cf. LL. socagium.] (O.Eng. Law)
A tenure of lands and tenements by a certain or determinate service; a tenure distinct from chivalry or knight's service, in which the obligations were uncertain. The service must be certain, in order to be denominated socage, as to hold by fealty and twenty shillings rent. [Written also soccage.]

Note: Socage is of two kinds; free socage, where the services are not only certain, but honorable; and villein socage, where the services, though certain,
are of a baser nature. --Blackstone.

Main Entry: bar·ra·try
Pronunciation: 'bar-&-trE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -tries
Etymology: Middle English barratrie, from Middle French baraterie deception, from barater to deceive, exchange
Date: 15th century
1 : the purchase or sale of office or preferment in church or state
2 : an unlawful act or fraudulent breach of duty on the part of a master of a ship or of the mariners to the injury of the owner of the ship or cargo
3 : the persistent incitement of litigation
Kat, this here is serious legal research.

Hey, where'd everybody go?? *crickets chirping*

Attalus, it is a sad testament to the profession that the term has been around for nearly 600 years. Can you believe it? Even 600 years ago, those who were committing wrongs against others were coming up with derrogatory terms for those of us who seek our pound of flesh from their hide.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... *snort* huh?
Sorry, all those long definitions put me to sleep.
Kept dreaming about my rabid cat chasing me with gelitan caps in her teeth...

So, how's everyone doing today?
Hi Arion!!

the was scaring the heck out of me (and her kid) yesterday. She kept running real quick into other rooms and then would come casually strolling back in like nothing was up. Then she'd repeat the process all over again. I'm convinced she has a stash of cat nip hidden somewhere that she's snorting.

Well, Timber, Shakespeare has some nasty cracks about physicians, though not as famous as, "First thing, we'll kill all the lawyers." Any kind of professional class breeds resentment. Though, the docs couldn't do much at all back then.
