Ah.... BG1 where arrows were the weapon of choice.

Kivan, Coran, Khalid, the Deathsquad. Yes, Khalid. He could get quite a few stars into bows. The three of them were personally responsible for some of the worst moments of butchery on the Sword Coast. Arming the three of them with bows of various flavours, one could easily manage to just waltz through the game with no real effort required. Arm your PC with a bow, and, if he was some sort of warrior type, it became overkill. All resistance was seemingly polymorphed into porcupines.

As Khalid would say, "Gorion would be proud of your actions!" right as the arrow flew into somebody's eye.

I actually quite like the variety in BG2, once you get the ammo belt that is. I've used short bows a lot, but trying it out with x-bows at the moment (for some reason I couldn't see my Assassin with a Bow), but until I get UAI I'm limited to light x-bows of which there is only one choice.
Get the Bolts of Biting and combine them with your Assassin's Poison Weapon ability. Trolls will tremble before you, if not outright flee. I believe Bernard sells a Light Crossbow that grants an additional attack per round. Memory is fuzzy on this though.

I was just thinking...

Imagine the Tugian Bow being in BG1 in the hands of somebody like Kivan, Coran, or Khalid.

**Shudders** That would be interesting. Not to mention entertaining.

You're right - Light Crossbow of Speed - "The Army Scythe". Best thing is that it gives +1 Attack so that if you normally have 3 attacks (for example) then you get 4 with it. Using oil of speed gives you an additional attack with the crossbow.

Bolts of venom combined with Assassin's poison is the absolute top way to kill (almost) anything. Many monsters are rendered completely inactive due to the recurring damage (Try this on Mencar Pebblecrusher for a laugh - he can't even drink his healing potions) and the damage stacks so quickly it's not funny.

Yes, Bernard sells "The Army Scythe"(where ever that name comes from). A pretty lame x-bow. only a +1 weapon.

The enchantment of +1 is irrelevant. Combine that with decent ammo and multiple shots/round it becomes a great weapon (and crossbows are MUCH cooler than bows). It's quick enough to disrupt most spellcasting and multiple shots means more poison damage

Take heed that the much vaunted Tuigan Bow is also only... *GASP!* +1 enchanted too. Yet it is the third most damaging Bow in the entire SoA-ToB game. Do not underestimate the power potential of an extra attack.

In addition, the enchantment of your ammunition is more important than that of the launcher, as that is what determines whether the target can be struck or not. Highly enchanted launchers are only good for those with crappy THACO. Damage is usually the more important factor.
