Just acquired these neat gloves with my Swashy, and I was pretty stunned by the results of equipping them. They're supposed to increase my APR by +1/2. But get this, with only Sanchuudoku equipped, I have 3/2 APR (I manually edited my char with SK to make up for the +1/2 Attacks I'm supposed to get with my Specialized proficiency level), when I put the gloves on, my APR jumps to a whoppin' 9/2 APR, the gloves gave me an additional 3 Attacks!!

When I dual-wielded, the results were still bugged but not as extraordinary. With Sanchuu and Belm, I went from 7/2 to 5 APR when equipping the gloves, still a +3/2 Attack increase, rather than the +1/2 Attack increase.

This was all done without any sort of haste effect.

Another bug concerning Belm, I only get 3 APR when using WW in conjuction with it, I can imagine why the bug is there, but shouldn't the official or Baldurash patch fix it?

Never mind, me changing the APR in SK was apparantly the cause of every damn "bug" I mentioned in this post

Still I wonder why such a "small" tweak could have such dramatic effects.

Swashbucklers aren't meant to get an additional 1/2 attack per round because of specialisation! Is is, and always has been the case, that only warriors can gain multiple attacks per round (whether this be due to advancing in levels, or using proficiency points) with the exception of dual wielding and weapons/equipment that grant this.

That's also why Haer'Dalis doesn't get the 1/2 attack benefits with long and short swords. Just because Baldurdash has a fix, doesn't necessarily mean that it's legitimate to use it. There are specific patches from Baldurdash that I intentionally don't install because the game developers have stated in past interviews that certain aspects of the game are meant to be as they are, and therefore will not be fixed in future patches.

Specialisation for the swashbuckler (and Haer'dalis) simply provide your run of the mill +1 to hit, and +2 to damage bonuses.

There is definitely a bug concerning WW and swashbucklers. When I dual wielded Belm and the Scarlet Ninja-To, and then activated WW, she got 5 APR, not 10! I've a feeling that my bug was because of the Scarlet Ninja-To, maybe something to do with its usage restrictions.

I see, well I haven't got a fix for that added attack, I simply modified with SK like I said. I've restored the original value now though, primarily because it fixed the bugs, but also because they're apparantly not even supposed to get them

Out of interest, where do you obtain these lovely little gauntlets from?

Unmodded game, ToB installed.

Jim: Actually it IS a known BG2 bug... simply one that there doesn't appear to be a fix for. See:

http://www.baldurdash.org/buglist.html

Search for "Weapon specialization" to find the pertinent bug entry.

This is a completely different situation from Grand Mastery, for instance, where the BG2 programmers deliberately altered the AD&D 2nd Edition rules for "game balance". (Search for "Grand Mastery" on the same page to see the difference.)
