I posted earlier and I've only received one response, which was as helpful as it could be. Thank you for that. The problem is that I'm playing this on a Mac with OS X so the advice I was given was unusable. The problem is that I've killed all of the Kobolds in the crystal room and I left and cleared the whole place. I've rested a bunch and now I can't find the stakes I need to get the builders hand. I do not have ToB. Can anyone help me with this? I would hate to have to start over.

That would have been the smart thing and what I'll be doing from now on, but no.

does having a Mac mean you can't use the CLUA console ?
There are many ways around your problem, but all the ones I can think of need the CLUA console. Otherwise, just slowly move your mouse over every millimetre of the kobold srea and, failing that, look elsewhere. There might be other stakes around (you sometimes find them in chests and stuff). Failing that, I sorry but I think you're stuffed. That would suck, and I feel for you, that's pretty far into the game to have it ruined EDIT: I'm pretty sure Butterfingers is a Mac user, raise a flag (ie. make a topic with "please help me Butterfingers" or something) and he might know how to help you [ 01-08-2003, 10:05 AM: Message edited by: karlosovic ]

Hmm not really Mac related, but, IIRC there is a stake some place on that level, in a jar or a crockery or something, possibly in a vase or a shelf in the library. I have found 2 on that level. Possibly in that nook where all those bone golems, skeleton warriors, and greater mummies attack you.

If you are playing multiplayer - I could create a drone character with the hand and then you let him in your party, take the hand then give him his walking papers. That is of course if the mac version will accept a pc based charcter.

if CLUA or Shadow keeper dont work on mac, then its possible to make youre save into a multiplayer save. dont know if you know how to do that, so ill tell you.
if you have an earlier multiplayer save, then itll be a quick thing. just go to youre file where baldurs gate is located at, go to youre regular save game file, copy the save you want and paste it into the multiplayer save game file. if you dont have an earlier multiplayer file, then you have to start a multiplayer game, save and quit. now you should have a multiplayer save game file. then do the copy paste steps posted above. youre game should be a multiplayer game now. then go to the game you just started, run through irenicuses dungeon(or use the "dungeon be gone" mod, then go to the bridge district, go to the temple of helm and buy a stake. you can get stakes elsewhere also, but this way is propably the fastest. then save, start youre other game, kick out someone and pray to god they stay in the asylum(i havent tried this myself, just a theorie. it should work though.) then you modify youre character, use the empty slot that has now appeared, create a character, and import from the save game in which you have the character with the stake. start the game again and give the stake to youre protagonist, kick out the new dude and take in the old. that should do it, i hope it works!
