after about a week, I finally finished downloading The Darkest Day on Kazaa...
It starts verifying the installer thing... gets to 100% and says

Nullsoft Install System v1.41 ERROR
Installer CRC invalid

I want to cry, I want to scream, I want to kill someone

does anyone know of a program I can get to manually decompress it or anything ?
is there any hope or should I just launch a campaign to erradicate KaZaA ?
3 times now I have downloaded some huge file, only for it to not work, or turn out to be something else. All people who share large corrupt or mislabeled files on fileshare networks should be stripped naked, sprayed with acid and ripped apart by savage dogs.

It was free after all so there is a chance that things go wrong (if it was bought from a store then you might have a conplaint). I'm on a mac and so many times its labelled as mac, only to be PC only so I have even more problems. Nothing you can do about it - its free so get over it. The darkest day can be down loaded from may place aside from KaZar, check the forums

Get yourself a decent download agent (i use gigex) and download it from TeamBG or some other trusted site. It may still take a week but you can stop and start at your leasure and not have to worry about shoddy users and poor connections to Krapzaa. And at the end of it all, you may just have a mod that works.

CRC error means the file is damaged. Even if you could extract it somehow, there would be a possibly major problem with it.

And why use peer-to-peer for this anyway? You can use a download manager through fileplanet (just dont have it loaded until you get the actual download link, the queuing system breaks otherwise). Of course then you have to queue multiple times, but its worth the effort.

I woudnt try Kazaa again - certain individuals have "fun" by putting up broken files deliberately and on a large download like this your quite likely to hit it, since you get fragments of the file from all over the place.

Yeah, I never use Kazaa to download huge files like that. I only use it to download music videos or audiofiles. Never trust kazaa with big files. My friend downloaded the Clone Campaigns expansion for Battlegrounds and after about three days downloading, he found it was corrupted. I have never had any problems with music videos except some are cr*p quality.

Question Mark

Yeah, KaZaa really irritates me too sometimes... I downloaded WWF:Raw for PC and it turned out to be Sims Hotdate.. I was really angry so I started swearing and screaming and doing all kinds of things until my nextdoor neighbour came to the door and asked if everything was OK.. From that day on i dont download large software files from Kazaa..Only music and videos

karlosovic, if i was you, i would download from TeamBG... i beleive that is your best choice.
