Yeah! 2012! If NYC win and if I'm still here then that'll be the second time in my life that my home town has been an olympic city!!

Sydney rocked during the games! It was so tremendous! Now it could be NYC.

However it's ten years away. A lot can happen in ten years...

Yey, congrats, funny though how they say it was not in sympathy for 9/11, It is pretty obvious it was and there is nothing wrong with that because NYC is the greatest city in the world... and don't worry, I'm sure you'll be there.

Hey Yorick -- maybe in 10 years time you can join the Oz team as musical director to whip up national fervor when we win all the medals (cackle, cackle).

Heh heh, well I don't really think that sympathy had so much to do with it as did the city itself having an incredible wealth of merits of it's own, completely independant of it's ordeal with terrorism.

And hey, congrats New York! Make it a great one! (I'm sure you will )

IIRC NY will be competing with Paris and London, I guess it is wait and see 'til 2005.

For selfish reasons I hope it will be Paris or London since it is a couple of hours flight from here

Actually, though I think it's great that NYC got the bid, knowing how political the IOC is, the next one will go to Europe. Reason: They voted in the man in charge now (Rogge) and he's going to pay them back.

DON'T get me started on the IOC.
