Experience tactics?

What's your favourite way of bumping up your xp? I'm getting quite far in the story but my xp is still reasonably low. Are there any good places to get some real experience? [img]smile.gif[/img]

The basilisk area east of the temple area of Beregost is a good place to get some, also the cave on the lighthouse map.

Just go to every area and make sure you've covered the whole map. And talk to everyone with a name. Don't worry about getting EXP, there's plenty to go around. At the end of my last game, each of my 6 party members had around 165,000 points, which is more than the experience cap for ToSC--and I was playing straight BG1, without the expansion. If you're playing a party that's mostly Fighters or Clerics, the loooong periods where nobody's Leveling Up can get very dreary. Make sure you've got a Thief, Mage, Bard, or Druid in there to keep things jumping. [img]smile.gif[/img]
But yes, the Basilisk map is my favorite place to go get Exp quickly. Also good are Winter Wolves (tough to find, though) and Ankhegs. And the Sirines & Golems in the Lighthouse map are indeed yummy.

i agree whit SixOfSpades Zhentarim Guard but i got some awfull tips for you....i have played troguh baldurs gate whit all the caratcers( just half of the multi!!! [img]smile.gif[/img] so i can all the game in my head....

basilisk is an good way to get experian.....but i got an better....whitch level are the charatcers? if you go to the west of Beregost and then up to the area just below the Candlekeep(the city where you start) you will meet some pritty hard mosters (when your level is low,easy if you are on lvl 4 or higher) then go up the the north west of the area and into the cave...then you will meat some moster whitch will give you 2000exp eatch.....then just rest inside the cave and then you will get ny mosters almost everytime you rest......there you can find an tomb of const. as well......GooD LucK

Tombs: carisma: in the gnoll stronghold are,soutch west of the are in an cage..
constitution: in the are south of candlekeep north west in the area
dexterity: in the "thifguild" in baldurs gate.to the left in an box wherre an female thife are selling stuff..
strength: cant miss it!but will not get it before the end of the games.....
wisdom:same place as strength, but you can also get an from the temple west in baldurs gate...its an quest but you can just steal it an puzzel;P
inteligens: in the magetower north in baldurs gate...cant miss the tower eather!

Thanks for the tips, Lord Arlion, but I don't think I'll need any educating on Baldur's Gate 1. [img]smile.gif[/img] I couldn't have earned 165,000 EXP in that game if I hadn't done every single quest, as well. (Unless, of course, I'd used tactics like sleeping in the Flesh Golem cave, but I didn't.) In fact, the only item I've NEVER obtained so far is the Heavy Crossbow of Accuracy, but you have to do something Evil to get it (kill a certain innocent), so I've simply never gotten around to it because I don't like crossbows.
You don't actually have to steal the first Tome of Wisdom. The guy will give it to you if you ask nicely (I think you may need a high Charisma), and you've already been to the Water Queen's house about Lothander's geas.

yes,but the another quest involves giving the tombe to the waterkeep temple....so if you want all the exp, just give it to her and then kill her.... [img]smile.gif[/img]

hehe! killing for the crossbow....hehe! pritty evil isnt it? but hey, i played an bloody caotich evil the first time, so....why not?

Ummmmm dont know i this will help but this is my 2pence... i always felt the baslisk run was always dangerous and im really tight with my gold and dont like to part with it by buying the necessary potions and scrolls, and i dont like the flesh golem cave because u have to sleep and waste another 8 hrs, my favourite spot is the underground sewers, in Baldurs Gate there is a place where there are Spider eggs lined across looking like a scene from 'aliens'... here u meet alot of phase spiders, 1400 per pop is not bad for such an easy kill, just make sure u save alot to increase the number of spiders and exit the area and come back, and hoping for a wraith spider is not too big a wish... And flesh golems are definately dangerous, they hit fast and hard, but i do have this really cheezy tactic i use, but im not gonna tell because ive got a reputation already...
