While somewhat "tongue in cheek", I found this email interesting...

To insure that Americans never offend anyone (particularly fanatics intent on killing Americans and anyone else who happens to be in the vicinity) airport screeners will not be allowed to profile people. They will continue random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning former Governors.

So pause a moment and take the following test:

In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by:
a. Olga Corbett
b. Sitting Bull
c. Arnold Schwartzeneger
d. Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

In 1979, the U.S. embassy in Iran was taken over by:
a. Lost Norwegians

Nope, no patterns anywhere to justify profiling!

I really wish the media haden't hyped the idea of profiling as racist. It is common sense law enforcement, hell it is common sense period. If you get smacked by every guy who wears a Red hat that you come accross, it only makes sense to be a little wary of anyone who is wearing a red hat.....Look at what happened to the red shirts on Star Trek....had they been allowed to profile, no one would ever have worn red on that show after the first few adventures.

You (or the original author) forgot a few questions on the test. Like who hijacked the plane that took DB Cooper to "safety" and who blew up the Federal building in OK City. Or who sent bombs through the mail in the western US for 20 years or so. We shouldn't be profiling Arabs or Muslims, we should be profiling those who hate the American culture. Unfortunately, that's not as easy to see as a turban or brown skin. I for one do not want to live in a country where every Arab or Muslim is searched before he or she gets on a plane (unless of course everyone is being searched.)

Near as I can remember DB Cooper didnt ram the plane into anything and the passengers survived....The OKC incident was pulled off by a whacked out idiot funded by ..who? can you say it? Same group as mentioned above! [img]smile.gif[/img] You have heard they found a paper trail leading back to the middle east on OKC right? I know the mainstream media didn't have much to say about it..just a small blurb for a couple of days. And I for one who has to fly occasionally WANT to live in a country where people who fit the profile ARE searched before getting on a plane. Face it...we are not being attacked by little old ladies or bob sled teams from Sweden. [img]smile.gif[/img] guess we just want different things [img]smile.gif[/img] I would rather have a profiled person be annoyed for a few minutes than have to kill him before he crashes the flight Im on.

And you do not find it interesting that they have only just now found this information? Just when the administration is looking for causi belli vs Iraq? I pay pretty close attention to the news and the first I heard about was just a couple of weeks ago.

I know sometimes my posts come off as being anti-american, but they really are not. I love my country, I just do not trust the government

Lox, obviously, that list wasn't meant to be a complete listing of all the terrorist activity in the world.

Of course, not all Muslims, Arabs, etc. are terrorists, nor all Americans great, upstanding, moral people. That's not my contention, or the message of the email. The idea is that it's ridiculous not to use a powerful investigative tool to prevent the deaths of innocents. As with all policing methods, profiling shouldn't be abused, but to discount it entirely is silly.

Profiling has proven that serial killers are primarily white males. If there were serial killings in my hometown, I expect I would fit at least that part of the profile.

Ku Klux Klan members are almost exclusively white. Wouldn't it be stupid to investigate an African-American for a KKK cross burning?

The point is not to believe that all Muslim males between 25-40 years old are terrorists, but with all we know, should it be automatically assumed they are no more likely to be terrorists than a 60 year old Chinese female? Wouldn't that be a bit silly?

Oh yeah, I am well aware that terrorists can be 20 something, white, male former US military personel with a grudge against the US government, but thanks for pointing it out...lol

rokenn,there is nothing new in this story of the iraqi national who was involved with the okc bombing.it's just that the prior administration sat on the information.

Well, Ron you are wrong in several points and I feel it is my duty to point them out:

1. 60 year old Chinese females are usually kung fu fighting (fast as lightning) and should be checked out
2. 80 year old females are a bit bitter about the system. The frisking of these females would probably put them in a better mood.
3. I can safely say that all of the KKK is white (caucasian). Not some, not most, but all. Granted, they should all be eviscerated, bludgeoned, and have their entrails strewn about the landscape...but that is a topic for another time.
4. I've never thought of you as a killer, Ron. More like a verbose genius with visions of exposition.
