I have noticed that very recently, if I want to backspace to take out letters, the reverse scrolling is so much slower than it used to be. Also, if I am using the arrows on the keypad to scroll down a page instead of using the mouse...the scrolling is alot slower than it used to be.
I have 512MB of SDRAM installed on my new Intel Motherboard, and am planning on installing another 512 soon. Is there an option to check or uncheck concerning the speed of scrolling that is not mouse related? PS...could it be my 300 Watt Power supply? I just now looked at the receipt and saw that I have a 300W. How would I know if I needed more power??? I was told that the power supply can slow down applications. Win98 dosent like RAM of 512 or more. IIRC it is supposed to crash dead if it sees 1024Mb. Upgrade to XP and it should work fine. Unless you have another problem.
You installed anything recently? Run your virus scanner with up-to-date definitions, it might show something interesting. Also get adaware(www.lavasoft.nu) and see if youve got any spyware running, that is known to interfere with system processes. 300W is adequate for a base system, but if you have multiple HDDs or a lot of USB peripherals you may need a more powerful PSU. PSU overload tends to kill the system though, so it dosent sound like thats your problem.

It sounds like the scroll speed got turned down somehow. I can't recall how to put it back up, though...sorry.

Is there decent airflow around your pc? If it gets too hot, the electrons will not move as fast consequentialy slow the PC itself. Make sure the cooling system on your processor is functioning effectively. a cooler system will run faster.

Cooling is important because above a certain point the semicondutor behavior changes and the system dies horribly. Might be worth replacing the thermo-conductor paste if your seeing system instability, but otherwise that sort of stuff is only for those who *must* have the perfect computer. On deathcows point - which I missed because I think too much - there is a keyboard config on the control panel. It allows you to set repeat delay and repeat rate. Might be your problem if someones been playing with your system.

Wow! I like all of your replies. Let me assure you that my five fans are running very cooly. ![]() As to the RAM...I am trying my best to buy XP. I want two GB of RAM in this baby in the next six months. I already have Adaware and all that, as well as checked for nasties on my PC. I is clean. ![]()

Why would I want 2GB?
Because my Motherboard can hold the capacity of 2GB... To know that I have it there. I know...what a fool I am...I know...I am just a boy with a toy, alright? Anyway...the problem seems to have gone away for now. Wierd. At first, I thought that I was getting slower response with my new printer turned on as well as having my scanner running while listening to music MP3s....but I just now ran a check of that, and that is not the case. In fact, I have not had the problem for two days. So...I wonder what was causing it last week? I can find no way of reproducing the cause.
