MOD RULING--> Everyone please read - Page 2

Because if someone were to say...bump 70 posts where the last post was in March of 2001, then all the current stuff would get bumped all the way to page two/three ect. Replies to people's questions would be missed, general choas ensues...basically, it's spam of the lowest order, and just all out uncool.

Now the ironic post would be to keep a favorite tab on this thread and then bump it in a month or three... [img]tongue.gif[/img]

**Saz hits BK with giant club** OW! I was just saying it would be ironic, not that I was going to do it...

Yes, but i`m talking about bumping a single ancient post. What harm would that do, besides being utter spam?

uss it bumps current posts off page one for no reason. Whoever bumped Turbos old thread was doing it to be an idiot. I can see idiocy with a purpose but that wasnt it!

Granted I love stupidity but thats just annoying.

One question, how old will the thread be considered ancient? what about threads that are 1 month old? is that considered ancient too? then again how about threads that are only 1 week old but already on 4th page or 5th page. will that be considered ancient?

The thing the mods are hitting is:

IF you have something USEFUL or that can CONTRIBUTE in some way to the thread (ex: an answer to an unanswered question) then they will allow it. But then like Turbovees thread, on where that game in BG2 was so ancient that it has transpired a year ago, case closed because people responded to it too... now bumping that wasn't sensible, and thus contributes to SPAM on where the mods hate that

. That is when the mods are going to have some action at it...

Meaning: it is not the "age" of the thread, but the VALUE of it and how it can inform the community

It's not the relative age of the post - it whether or not your post adds value. It's one thing to bump a thread that you see that is directed at say...Memnoch last week that he didn't get a chance to answer when he is online today, but to bump a post from three weeks ago with the post, "I am the SpamMaster" might be looked down upon. It is all coming down to relavancy. When in doubt, email one of the mods and ask if it is ok. M'oK?
