There are to be no more bumping of "old topic" threads if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute to them. This goes for General Discussions and all other forums as well here at Ironworks.

We have no problem with bringing back an old thread if you have something worthwhile to contribute to it. But bumping an old thread just for the sake of "bumping" or if you have nothing to contribute is SPAM of the worst order, and is definitely in violation of our ToS. You will be issued one warning, and if it occurs again, you may be suspended and/or your account locked or deleted.

Surely the members here have something worthwhile to contribute without bumping threads from over a year ago.

100% agree, Saz, in fact on the Darkstone board I had the following as part of a general sticky intro post.

Bumping ancient posts to the top of the forum for no good reason is forbidden.

If anyone thinks it's somehow funny to disrupt the boards by doing this, rest assured, you will not be here for long.

...and believe me, Mouse of all people should know. I remember one time when some yay-hoo in the Darkstone Forum bumped up so many ancient posts that they completely rolled off all the important first-page topics.

It's the equivalent of going into an elevator in a a high-rise and pressing all the buttons so the elevator will stop at every floor. Utterly immature.

question: what prompted this thread? did it happened again at the other forums?
I remember the darkstone situation

heh, that's only one which is nothing compared to the other forum... oy! But it must be caught before someone makes a habit out of it.

Does this include threads such as the "On Spoilers" in the BG2 forum ?? Or just threads from ages ago ??

Now, Lennon, I know you can figure that one out!

The "On Spoilers" thread is a new one; one within the past week, and one that's informative to BG2...if we had sticky posts, it would be a sticky. I'm talking about bumping a thread like the one here that was from Turbovee (who isn't even around anymore) wanting to do a multiplay way back in March 2001...and then offering nothing; not even a reason as to why it was bumped.

Thanks for the warning i really needed that.
One question - Why is it strictly forbidden? Will it somehow affect IWF if i bump an ancient thread?
