IS BG2 IN 2ndE D&D RULES?

This is kinda stupid question:

Is it in 2ndEd?

I've finished the game two times already.

Based on 2nd Edition alright, but the game will bend a few rules here and there.

i no like i'm further ahead than my dad in the game( cos its mine and i play loads more than he does.) ne way his char is a lawful good paladin and the game let Korgan a chaotic evil dwarf join the party. how that works i dont no.

But Sorcs, Barbs, and Monks are 3rdEd D&D right?

Yep those 3 are 3rd edition but were successfully incorporated into the 2nd edition rules for BG2.

right its all second edition. Straight or a variation of the rules depending on what difficulty level you play on. Might I suggest insane?

Actually the rules for Barb's were presented in the Barbarians Handbook, and monks were covered(correctly) in the Scarlet Brotherhood accessory for Greyhawk, it gave them back the prestige they lacked from the priests handbook, or you could merely call them a translation of 1st edition rules, same as 1/2 Orcs, they are the same as the 1st ed 1/2Orcs(also from the humanoids handbook), not the +2str -2in -2 chr that 3E gives them.
