I rephrase then. Replace 'humour' with 'comments'.

And whether it was unintentional or not, you just made another faux pas. With that sentence, you have just generalised all Arabian and Afghan people. Everybody knows there are some bad Arabian and Afghan, just as there some bad AnyRace.

Statements like that will hurt your crediability, even if you have the best interests in mind. Yes, there are terrorists. Yes, we have to stop them. However, we cannot assume that all Arabs and Afghan are terrorists. Again, I emphasise that you may have unintentionally made a generalistic statement, but if you continue to be this careless, you may end up chewing more than just your foot in your mouth.

Personally Johnny, it was the combination of the 'wink' and the shit happens comment that didn't fall too well with me. Saying 'shit happens' is like saying 'yeah whatever, I couldn't care less'. The expression has a strong connotation of indifference in English. If that's your opinion, that's fine, but obviously people will disagree with you. [img]smile.gif[/img]

[/QUOTE]i see your point of view, however, we DIDNT start this. liberals are so quick to put down America, especially those who dont even live here. it would be a completely different story if the attack came to YOUR land. im about 110% positive that if it happened in Europe, or Australia, or Asia, or New Zealand, that people would as the US for help. those people KNEW American planes were flying in the air. there is no way NOT to hear them, they are LOUD!! they shot guns into the air. our pilots are hundreds of feet in the air. all they saw was a group of people, shooting at them. they did what ANYONE would have done to protect himself. nobody sees it that way though. the liberals of the world have a field day with this stuff. more "ammunition" for their anti-military campaigns. these people killed THOUSANDS of innocent lives for NO reason, other than hate. we are killing MILITARY targets out of SELF DEFENSE, and retaliation. like i said, yes, its sad when innocent people had to die, but those people COULD have actually been firing at the planes, for all the pilots knew. im not a monster, i have feelings, and that is why i hate the taliban and al-quida, because they DONT have feelings, and they ARE monsters. kill them all, and let the powers that be sort them out. (not the civilians) all im saying is, when you are in the air, being fired upon, you dont have time to turn around, land your plane, give a location, get an intelligence briefing, refuel, reload, take off, and then proceed to bomb them. it was a target of opportunity, and unfortuneately, it was a bad target. people need to stop looking at all of the "negatives" that America sometimes does, and focus on all of the POSITIVES. all we are doing is trying to keep the world a safer place. you would understand if you were in the military. there is alot more that goes on than you could POSSIBLY imagine. lets put you into the middle of enemy controlled area, and have them shoot at you, and lets see how you would react. i use that as an example, just to illistrate(sp) my point. i wish that there WOULD be peace, and that everyone COULD get along. unfortuneately, places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran wont allow that to happen. I find it more than a little worrying when a group apparently claiming the moral right to start a war, displace and kill thousands, and ultimately bring "justice" for an act of terror is forced to justify its actions with: "They started it!".

I think, Morgan, that Scholarcs wasn't saying that actually flying a plane into a building was a good, or even remotely justifiable, idea. But instead that allowing indiscriminate killing from one side but condemning it on the other is a double standard. I think what might be a good idea here to remember is that it is very hard to kill terrorism with guns. You can kill individuals with guns but you can't kill anger with them. The war on terror is going to fail miserably in the original way it was intended if simply rile up the opponents.
