The annoying bit about translating the LotR characters to BG is that hardly anyone wore armor. Gimli is descibed as wearing a "shirt of steel rings," and he's the ONLY one who was visibly armored. And, of course, Frodo had the mithril chain, which would translate to Elven Chain. This means that everyone else is wearing enchanted leather, and Boromir has his shield.

I would do:
Gandalf: Fighter->Invoker (He wields Glamdring)
Aragorn: Stalker
Gimli: Berserker
Legolas: Archer
Boromir (why am I the only one who's included Boromir?): Inquisitor
Frodo: Swashbuckler, with 22 CON

With no real Priests in the party, everyone must depend on Aragorn (and Legolas, I guess, unless we make him a Fighter/Archer instead of a Ranger/Archer) for basic healing needs--all other remedies must be taken care of at Temples, such as when Frodo got Level Drained.

[ADD:] Correct, Sam's "backstab" of Shelob was not an actual Backstab: She tried to crush him to death by sitting on him, but she didn't count on him being able to stand up straight with his sword pointing up like that.

[CORRECTION:] Make Boromir a LG Wizard Slayer instead, so he can have a low WIS. Wait, that would mean he couldn't wear the Ring......damn! I wonder if he can still use the Horn of Gondor as a Quick Item.....

Another idea has come to mind, after all of the battles, Aragorn must fulfill the profecy, "The hands of the king are the hands of a healer.". So, that secretly, under the guidence of Elrond, Aragorn dueled to a cleric a long time ago in preparation for this moment. It probably happened long enough ago that he regains his ranger abilities in time to use them for the big push for the end. Just an idea, hope it helps.

Aragorn Is a Human Ranger I would find it naturally to be the case here too...

Frodo Is a Hobbit which is an Halfling. He has no experience in combat and never been adventuring before. He does not know magic but he is an expert at moving silenly and thats one of the things hobbits are well known for. When they encounter humans they can disappear very quickly because they dont want to meet the big people(Humans). In the book he is does not got any relations to a thief but Bilbo Baggins does. He was hired as a burglar for some dwarwen King, to steal back his lost treasuere from the Dragon Smaug. So I guess its ok to Have Frodo as a thief in your party.

Gandalf the grey is a wizard of the Istari. The Istari is a magic high order of 5 wizards tha came from over the sea out of the Uttermost west. THey were emissaries from the lords of the west, The Valar(The Gods In of Middle Earth), who still took counsel for the governance of Middle Earth, and when the shadow of Sauran began to stir again took this means of Resisting him. He was one of the Maiar(Ainur of lesser degree of the Valar(Ainur - "The Holy ones" The first beings created by Illuvatar(The before tmiddle earth was shaped)) where his name was Olorin. I wouldnt look at him as a sorceror because he only use magic a couple of time in the book. But this is because he is restricted by the Valar not to use his power in Middle Earth. So a mage would be the closest you could get to him.

Gimli is a dwarven fighter specialized in the use of axe.

Legolas is an elf specialized in the use of bows. He is an archer but can also use knives or daggers.

Boromir is a Very strong human fighter. He got the Horn of gondor that will summon anyone in the army of Gondor that hears it.

As for the cleric i would go with Arwen she is an elf, daughter of elrond. She knows the arts of healing ans knows magic. how well is unknown...but I guess she could be an alternative for a cleric.

By the way soone said that none of the party characters use armour cept for gimli and frodo. This is wrong, in Edoras they are given a set of armour each. Gimli chose a Helm but there wer no plate that would fit him. Gandalf thanked no to everything but the rest were given plates, helms, shields and so on.

Aragorn: Ranger->Cleric

Dual at level 9 without ToB, level 13 with ToB.

Dundee: If Aragorn duals to cleric, won't he be unable to use swords? That would be just wrong, since he wields Elendil's formerly broken sword and it is an important part of who he is.

He has to be a ranger, and since rangers learn some priest spells, that should take care of the healing part.

Under certain cicumstances, Clerics can use bladed weapons. I believe Priests of Tempus (the God of War in the D&D world) are allowed to use any weapon they feel like. It doesn't make sense to extend this religion to Aragorn, but it doesn't make sense to extend the Cleric's weapon restrictions as well.

In my view, Aragorn is NOT a Cleric. He seems to know basic first aid, advanced herblore (he located the athelas near Weathertop by smell alone), and has the experience to at least diagnose the illnesses he cannot treat. That says Ranger all over. Elrond is the Cleric.

I had played a LotR multiplayer game before... but got bored in spellhold..
my party was :

Aragorn (PC) LG Stalker
Boromir LG Inquisitor
Gimli CG Berserker
Legolas LG Archer
Frodo NG Thief
Gandalf LG Mage

the party is not bad.. but lacks protective spells like chaotic commands...

That's why the party was vulnerable to things such as Fear and the Black Breath of the Nazgul, and Pippin's susceptibility to the Palantir.
