LOL @Dijinn.

It's something I've only learned in the last year or so. I knew we bought Iraqi oil through the Oil for Food program, but only in the last year or so found out how much of it we buy. Of course the US buys about a quarter of the world's oil, so I shouldn't have been surprised.

The USA is going to war over Oil logic is this:
1) the USA is a capitalist country that is out to gain control of the world's oil for it's own use. And is willing to spend money and the lives of it's military to get it.

The problem with that logic is this:
1)By diffintion a capitalist country will try to get the cheapest raw material or products it can, if it doesn't it will cease to be capitalist. No way around that fact. remeber all the agruements about how the USA uses (explots) 3rd world countries to build its products, no one can take this side in any arguement without excepting this fact.
2) It is cheaper, faster, and all around easier to lift the sanctions on Iraqi oil, all it takes is some talk and a UN vote. Going to war over oil costs money and lives not cheap by any standards! Remember the USA is a capitailist country and by diffintion will try to get it's raw amterials and products the cheapest way it can.

Now there is a it's about the money part of the "Go to war" or "No war" arguement going on. here' a link to enlighten

Some interesting facts, I wasn't aware of John.

1. Agreed on the definition, but maybe the US is trying to kill two birds with one stone.
2. Lifting sanctions on Iraqi oil isn't going to make the US look very good if they're the ones lobbying for it. Sanctions are in place for a reason, and although some may argue they are inneffective, removing those sanctions would undermine the entire US position against Iraq.

The current escalade of tensions with Iraq has increased the price of oil to the end user (gasoline.) This is great for oil producing states like Texas. Where did you say Bush was from?
