Read and agreed, Memnoch, Ziroc.

BTW, I've been guilty yesterday of not respecting one of the golden rules, by posting a comment about one of Moni's posts on GD. I'd like to publicly apologize for it, to you Mods and members. If you want to ban me for a time, I deserve it, and I will willingly submit.

I certainly agree to abide by this.
I don't come in here very much any more, because it seems to be open season on people like me who are not wildy patriotic or religious, and who prefer peace. I don't feel that my views are respected at all. I hope everyone who has already posted their agreement will remember that I too deserve respect as a non-violent, non-patriotic atheist.

Yes, that's the point, Epona, EVERYONE deserves respect. We can disagree on issues but we don't need to spit on each other.

You are usually the voice of reason when you post and I VERY much respect you for that. So if we disagree on something, I'd never even consider insulting you as a person. I'm glad to agree to these rules because I think the forum could be so much better if we all abide by it.

Epona, yes, it's nice when our views are respected. However, in reality, as soon as there's discussion on an issue, one party doesn't really respect the views presented by the other. They are however expected to respect the member who displays that view. Should that mutual respect for one another fail, than, there's a problem.

Food for thought!

Read and understood. More power to you

Generally I keep clear of this forum. I do hold views on this subject, but I consider that the dissemination of these views is relatively unimportant if it causes frustration, grief and unpleasantness.

I have seen these subjects provoke irrational outbursts, flames, intellectual arrogance, and several other responses, the majority of which add little to our overall understanding of the situation re. the war on terrorism or each other.

When I debate, I don't have to convince others that my views should take precidence over theirs - all I need is for them to admit the possibility that my beliefs are held with as much sincerity as theirs are. I can always agree to disagree and walk away with my dignity and self-respect intact.

Unfortunately, my attitude seems to be in the minority

I promise not to insult or flame in my rare posts here, if I should accidentially insult someone I would like to get told so I can apologize for the insult and delete and/or edit my insulting post(s).

If this continues, I will delete and ban members that are doing this. (Even vague attacks on people). I'll close this War forum down and delete it if I have to. Ironworks is NOT going to lose it's members over this type of behavior. We are better than this.

So consider this the warning, and please be nice. Times ARE stressful, but it will only make it worse by fighting.

Thanks
