It is just my opinion but if the government of the U.S. chooses to capture Bin Laden then what? The trial itself will cause international unrest. Again this is just my opinion, but would the evidence ever be adequate? Would the credibility of the evidence and how it was acquired come under question? I'm sure!
I believe that the attacks of September 11th do not deserve the honor of being presented in a court of law. Mr. Bin Laden didn't Comit murder, he committed an act of war, and should be treated like any other military leader with the idea of killing anyone who thinks differently...shoot him on sight! Will that end the worlds psycho radicalists from doing the same thing in the name of God, or Bugs Bunny, or whatever they can come up with to justify their own political agenda? No! But this I'm sure of ....There is a time to make a stand on what is right and wrong. Any true warrior only wishes peace, but sometimes that peace can only be found on the other side of war. |

Hate to say it, but I doubt it will make much difference to the terrorists what we do to bin laden. Of course it will mean a lot to us. He is evil personified and killing him will make a lot of people happy! But there will be many more where he came from. I think we should put him, on trial for War Crimes, and "if" proven guilty, let him sit in prison for the rest of his life in solitary confinement with none of his holy books or symbols, alone forever. Make him into nobody.

I've got another question for you though,..If Bin Ladin was to be put in an American prison, how would you explain to the families and friends of the people who lost loved ones on Sept.11th, that their tax dollars are in part going to pay to keep him alive? |

I find myself aggreeing with both of you (Bullvye and Skywalker) I too am torn. Do we throw this pile of horse manure (hmmm.... come to think of it, manure is definately more appealing than bin Laden) into prison, cut off from all manner of contact from the outside world? No phone, no computer, no visitors, just leave him to rot on the diet of taliban's prisoners? (bread and water)It would make me happy to hear that he was completely at the whim of the people he hates so much.
But then again...MY TAX DOLLARS giving him that bread and water??? I don't think so! Not unless it comes with some kind of weird nipple torture! I say skin him alive like the Taliban have done to their enemies!! Then air it on live telivision for all to see, including other terrorists! ------------------ ![]() Captain of Bouncers, Boogre Bar LH Member "I've had it up to here, listening to a small segment of people try to put down America! I think they ought to kill him and cremate his body so he just disappears,no martyrdom, no glory, no anything he's there then he's not!

Perhaps its all in the trade-offs? What ever is gained by using military force, is lost to the processes that define the character of Justice. The Nation may have evidence of guilt, but there has been no trial, no jury, no judge, no verdict. It is outside our basic concepts and processes of justice and law. Justice is inequatible with what is going on except as an ideal. War is traditionally fought between nations, so this indeed is a "new" war. We are attacking the talibon and el queda not Afganistan (supposedly). *shrug* The Taliban have a notion, but they are not a nation. The military action going on in afganistan only seems like war, its really bomb practice. ![]() ![]() If by some unlikely happening Bin Ladin was tried in an American court, there is little doubt in my mind of his execution, not necessarily by the state. |

Well one thing it will do is show the terrorists that they won't just get away with an attack on us...it is a fairly common misconception among a lot of militant people that the US is too softhearted to really go all out in retribution. Another thing to think about, is it better to kill him and risk some short term revenge strikes or imprison him and risk some fairly long term attempt to trade hostages for his freedom? I say hang him...slowly with no neck breaking allowed. With no fanfare or media coverage. But that's just me. Or if the chance arises shoot out both his knees and either stake him out over an anthill after pouring sugar water on his privates or else smear peanut butter on his bung in a cage full of rats. That's just me though. Prime |

The reason it seems that America is too softhearted is because of the attention our government has in the past few years, before now, paid to the pascifist citizens who continually hinder the nation and get our troops killed. I'm happy to see that this time their voices are pretty much drowned out by the voices of the majority of Americans!
