I was not aware of those other shows on Al-Jazeera. I would also say no to those. I was mainly referring in my previous posts to Bin Laden's messages on tv.

Is it a new fatwa every week, or is just the same one repeated over and over?

I don't have al-Jazeera myself, so I can't really comment on individual shows, but I DO know that a-J is after all an Arabic news channel and will as such choose another perspective than a Western one.

Regarding the beheading (I assume) they aired, that's just nasty and I really want to know a-J's defense regarding that. There's always the little thing called decorum, after all.

I agree, besides, doesn't giving aid and support to known terrorists violate some conventions?

Since when do we (the US) get to decide what another country on the other side of the world is allowed to broadcast? I'd say we lack a little thing called "authority" to make that call. I realize that we're in the middle of turning Iraq into a democracy, but that isn't supposed to make them subject to our laws (the idea behind this new democracy is that they get to make their own).

If you think that the entire middle-east should be subjected to our laws, however, then it's only fair that they also be allowed to vote in our elections. Somehow I doubt that most Bush supporters would want that.

Riiight. I'm not talking about making them subject to our laws. I'm talking about them suddenly experiencing some technical difficulties -- through no fault of ours of course. Bombs and ECM devices have to be deployed by planes, and nobody saw or heard our planes anywhere nearby. Not a blip on the radar screen.

That would be too obvious, and besides, they would just rebuild.

Oh, I see...you want to take a TV station off the air that supports terrorism by secretly bombing it. That sends a nice message.

Yes it does. Put crap like that over the public airwaves, and you could have horrible system malfunctions.

If it works there maybe we'll try it on UPN and the WB Fall Lineups.
