Clinton administration witnesses may face difficult questions about why they did not do more to deal with Al Qaeda immediately after the 2000 attack on the American destroyer Cole in Yemen and the earlier discovery that Qaeda terrorists had come close to coordinated attacks timed to the Dec. 31, 1999, festivities for the new millennium.
Duh! None of us cared. We were too busy buying Enron and Global Crossings stock, you retards! Funny how the facts and circumstances melt away once finger-pointing time comes around. And, why even HAVE finger-pointing time? Some things are simply unforeseen. What's with this stupid mentatality that every bad thing that happens on the planet must be the fault of some person we can blame it on? When did bad luck cease to occur?

I totally agree with your last statement TL. The ones that point the figures, probably wouldn't have done any better.

It does appear in hind sight that President Bush did make the mistake of keeping this career White House services employee, Gov't employees that are supossed to do their job reguardless of who is in the White House, in an appointed position. One President Bush later rectified.

I also believe it maybe a mistake not to have given Mr. Clarke the #2 position under Thomas Ridge, from what I can find out it seems TR could work with him, or at least knew how to work him.

Sir. T have you seen UoK play F-O-O-T-B-A-L-L? and you say they are a two sport University

One thing I noticed (I wonder if you all noticed the same thing) was the amazing invisible shift of the dem's from claiming the President is a loose cannon attacking without provocation (pre-book deal) to claiming he should've done something pre-9/11 but didn't (post-book deal). What's it gonna be? Is he a cowboy or a cautious calvin? I sincerely doubt that his personality shifted 180 degrees on 9/11 so I suspect somebody is just trying to paint him in WHATEVER light is likely to get them the most votes (not that I'd expect them to do anything else... it is an election year after all )

Everyone also seems to have conveniently forgotten what the atmosphere was like before 9/11. Not particularly conducive to addressing the terrorist problem at that point.

Good point, Thoran. Not that I support it, I think the light most favorable to cast their argument in is:

He didn't do anything until it was too late, and then he went trigger happy and did the wrong things.

How's that?

Back to truely important matters...

...SEC sports

Sir T, I think the Tide faithful are just giving lip service to Fullmer turning the Tide in "Hale" we'd have done the same thing. What they are really ticked at is in one of the released NCAA documents Fullmer said something about the Bear, off came the gloves, the Marcus of Queensbury rules went out the door. You can dog cuss Their Grandma, but don't say anything dispairaging against the Bear. The Tide faithful will hunt you down to the third generation for that transgression.

Talk about a one sport Uni. two or three years ago Bama had, their baseball team in the collegate WS, Mens basketball in the NCAA tourny, Gymnastics in the championship, Girls Basketball in the NCAA tourny. That barely made front page of the sports section much less the Front page of the paper. But let the Football coach get caught in a nudie bar and all "Hale" breaks loose.

It'd be the same here though! Let Fulmer get caught in a nudie bar here in Knoxville and all hell would break lose too. Of course Phil would physically have trouble getting through the door. He's been gitting a bit think in the waist of late.

On a more positive note, Pat Head Summit has the Lady Vols playing at the top of their game! They looked awesome last night in getting into the sweet sixteen! They keep playing like that and I foresee a seventh national championship for Summit!

BTW TL, I haven't a clue whata Crimson Tide is. Don't they have red tides down in the Gulf of Mexico? Of course that usually happens when the Alabama Cheerleaders go swimming!

Sorry John D. I just couldn't resist!

If by 'dem's' and 'book deal', you are refering to Clark, then it is worth noting he is a registered republican who served under Reagan and Bush I before Clinton.

We did attack Iraq without provocation and we could have done something more vs Al Queda before 9/11. Both of these points go for both Bush II and Clinton, though attacking Iraq is more on Bush II as he led an invasion/occupation where as Clinton just bombed them. I'm not a dem (nor am I a repub- partisanship sucks IMO).
