Can't wait until my trip in June - all those bargains. Hopefully we'll see the $2 Pound by then. It just makes working out the conversions so much easier!

I had to buy some computer equipment when I was in London and lamented the prices greatly. I also saw a great difference in grocery prices, and the prices for clothes in the UK drove me right out of the stores. I was looking at cheaply-made off-the-rack suits for prices I could get a Hickey Freeman for over here. Doc Martins have always been cheaper here.

We're mega-mall mania. I dated a student from Germany who went on an insane shopping spree here because she simply could not believe how cheap clothes were. She also commented often when we'd go out to eat how much cheaper the bill was than in Bruge, Kassel, or Paris.

So, bring some money when you come, and only pack half your suitcase.

America you are so cheap ... and I'm so poor
If I had just some money aside I'd ly over to buy a car.
I've been dreaming of a '68 DeVille forever and it always was half the price in the US compared to European dealers (US vintage car, DOH!).
Even with customs and shipping (literally ) it would have been a bargain. BUt now that the $ is so low it's even better.
I guess I gotta push on that "Who wants to be a millionaire" participation

The Dollar (US) has fallen so much against the Aussie $ (50% in 2 years) that we are talking of taking the kids over to Disneyland in September/October time. and a couple of weeks in California and surrounding states as well.

Thanks GW (abacus) Bush

Circuit City is offering pretty decent laptops for $600 (after rebate). Isn't that insane?

Just a pity that most of my holidays are in the UK where the prices are at the worst . Shopping has always been much more attractive in the states though - I have always picked up a few things whenevr I have passed through. I remember my first actual day in the states back in 1994 was 2 for 1 post Thanksgiving Day sale at a huge mall in Miami - I got 2 sets of Nike's, 4 shirts, and the odd CD and computer game

Well, it's that I have to deal with rather high shipping costs, but despite what others may claim, CD prices are insanely low compared to those in Europe; especially with the current value of the dollar compared to that of the Euro and all.

I'd pay your way to get here, but I lack the dollars, I live in the rust belt, a group of states that are poverty locked due to obsessively high taxes that destroyed various industries.
