Isn't Jester's chain only wearable by Bards? Or am I thinking of another suit of armour?, either way I don't think that I could give up my boots of speed in order to get the armour. If only it gave you more tokens lol.

EDIT: Nope your right I was thinking of the Melodic Chain

IMO, the Berserker is definetly the strongest melee class.
He can be Grand Master in weapons, he can wear all armours, and the Enrage ability is probably the best in the game.
Make him Half-Orc, to get 19 in Str. Con and Dex is also important.

I agree with Sir Exxon on this beserkers are excellent. The only disadvantage they have is not being able to specialise in ranged weapons-not much of a handycap at all.

Well, without the restored "true" grandmastery a Barbarian doesn't miss anything big except for +1 dmg, +1 to hit and -1speed. And also half orcs can only have 18 dex

ermmm ummm uhhhh welll errrr argggg hrmmmf!

howbout the pali inquisitor or watever the dude wit dispell magic thingy spell that is twice his lvl?

also i found a dueled fighter mage (ye start with a mage (no specialist cause that just aint right) git it to lvl 10 then duel over to fighter... i always found a good amount of spell armour and spell crowdcontrol with hps and melee always makes up for real armour!

also is the bard any good? i havnt really gotten far in this game... though i liked iwd, i have had this game for a while and think its time to finish it... so i cant decide if i want a bard jester skald or whatever the other thing is.... errr oh ya blade... arent those good melee dudes to? i notice they can swing a heavy slow high damage weapon or two katanas really fast for really mean damage, and in defensive dance are really hard to hit... they also seem to get spells... ye know what! im gunna make another post about this so just ignore this bard thing, lol

Cavalier is a nasty melee fighter, he is immune to poison/fear, and gets massive bonuses against dragons and demons (two creatures you need this bonus against) gets 20% resistance to fire/acid and can wear any armor, plus cleric spells/turn undead, and an ability to cast remove fear 1/lvl per day all in all a very powerful melee character (cannot use missile weapons is his only downfall, but Carsomyr which is attainable very early, and some throwing axes (which he can use) make up for this)

I find the Cavalier the best class overall, but as just melee, I think the Berserker is better.
But on second place, we definetly find the the Cavalier.

I would go with the Ranger/Cleric if starting out. They can wear the best armor, dual wield, heal, cast protections, and stand toe to toe with the vilest of Demons and Undead and just pound away.
The one I used was sitting at -10 at level 12/12 without a shield, using a powerful flail and a dangerous mace. He fought the majority of the battles alone. The NPCs though sharing his kill experience were mainly there to carry the loot.
