To answer that, assuming it's what you meant, if a soldier *out of malice* attacked an innocent civilian, yes I would wish them ill. However, soldiers mistakenly attacking civilians during a very hectic confusing situation are a different story. Attacks are coming often over there, and I could imagine a situation where soldiers may think they were being attacked when in fact that would not be the case. That's a different instance.

(Hope I took your meaning correctly)
Well that was not what I meant at all but I love your answer.

What I meant was, how would you react to "I nevertheless wish all those who would attack Iraqi soldiers a slow and painful death."?

Well, there aren't really any more Iraqi soldiers.

Look, I supported the war and I feel it was for good reason. I think Bush argued the wrong reasons, as did T. Blair, and it has come back to haunt them (and is likely a political suicide in the instance of Blair).

Plus, there are teams in these things, see. When the Cubs play a baseball game, I cheer for them because I'm from Chicago -- not because S. Sosa is a sissyfied crybaby. When UK plays basketball, I cheer them on, 'cause I have been a Kentucky fan all my life.

Similarly, when the USA goes to war, I tend to cheer for our team, even in those instances where I oppose going to war. Pretty simple, really.

So, yes, if I had to choose the life of an American vs. the life of someone from another country (all other things being equal), I would choose the American life. Sorry if that offends any of y'all but as with all things when it comes down to it, "us" and "them" generally dictates at least some decisions.

I hope that doesn't offend anyone Timber. It was an honest answer and as a such it should be respected. Sure people might disagree with you. But why do you cheer the UK on in basketball? What I meant was that if you stumbled upon a board where this sentiment was being voiced ("I nevertheless wish all those who would attack Iraqi soldiers a slow and painful death."), how would you react? I'm not saying that I am offended by it (change Iraqi to American ). It was simple curiosity.

I think 'Bring it on' means we are ready to fight if we have too. Of course he could have said just that. 'We are ready to fight if we have to'. But that isn't near as appealing is it? And thats one of Bush's trade marks, is he is appealing to most people.

And Frankly, most people I know would rather him say 'Bring it on' than 'We will fight if we have too.'

Six gun diplomacy? This doesn't surprise me coming from Bush. It's almost as if Yosemite Sam is in office.

He is correct, it will take years and could quite possibly turn into another USSR vs Afghanistan episode before anything is resolved in Iraq.

When I look at the candidates coming from the opposition I have no doubt that Bush will be a two term president. So too bad John.

We're not very good at it but thanks for the support anyway.

Ya know, it's one thing to say "Bring'em on!" when you are personally doing the fighting, but a whole 'nother thing when it is being said an ocean away. Especially when other people's lives are at stake.

Not very Presidential if you ask me.

I guess he got what he asked for. A sniper killed an American soldier last night. I'd hate to patrol the streets of that godforsaken country at night. It's like having a big mark all over your body, saying: shoot me, bring it on.
