If you wish to have her in your party, or only save her, all you need to do is to click on the pole which she is attached to. If that doesn't work it's more likely to be of a bug in your game. (One that I never heard of before.)
Adding Viconia may be a smart move as well since she's a quite strong NPC and has a lot of interesting dark magic to play around with. Also, she spices the converstions up a whole lot with her evil allignment. A nice addition with other words. Why does Viconia, being evil, holy smite in her spellbook. She only hits herself with it (I don't use except for strong enemies to do a little bit damage, so the damage she gets from it is way to high when compared to the damage of the enemy)

Put a Globe of Invulerability on her or just keep her outside the spell's radius. Simple...

Clerics cannot cast Mage spells, Aerie can though, because she is a Cleric/Mage.
It's reeeeeeeal easy to have a mage use Limited Wish to put globes on everyone... |
