Didn't look like Donut found it very funny... well you're bound to be a little defensive if you're drinking Fosters . My brother ordered his tickets for the first test at the Gabba yesterday. But he won't take me

So what's the real problem here Aelia . Let's see - 10 good reasons why your brother isn't taking you to the cricket :
1) Your brother has a hot date and doesn't want to be embarrassed by his older (or younger??) sister.
2) He is really thinking of you, because he is going with the guys and he is worried they may get out of hand after a few cans.
3) He is out of money.
4) He is paying you back, because you went to the Brisbane Lions last home final, and you never took him.
5) He doesn't really believe you are all that interested in cricket (, find that one hard to believe)
6) You forgot his last birthday, and he hasn't forgiven you yet.
7) You put a dent in his car the last time you drove it.
8) He bought an extra ticket, but is really holding out on you - he can't wait to see the pleased look on your face when he surprises you with it.
9) He just plain forgot to ask you, and is to stubborn to admit it

And the 10th possible reason why he hasn't asked you to the cricket :

10) He has heard all about your antics in the disrobed division of the ORT, and couldn't bear to face the embarrassment if you got caught up in the moment and made another attempt at the dance of the single veil .

Anyway, what's the problem - can't you just buy your own tickets?? - surely if you're studying Neuroanatomy you must be a big girl now .

1) No that's not it, he doesn't have a date, and I'm not embarrassing at all (hee hee)
2) Well he is going with his friends, don't know how many cans they'll get down, one of them accidently invited his supervisor (they're all doing PhDs)
3) Out of money, are you kidding? He gets 16 grand a year for his 'research' and lives at home! He's rolling in it.
4) No, watched it on TV, can't be that
5) Yes, perhaps, he never takes me seriously
6) Hmph, I have to buy my own presents from him for my birthday, and wrap them myself!
7) More likely he put a dint in MY car, he's such a hoon
8) I know that's not it
9) No, he likes to lord it over me that he's going and I'm not
10) Oh I see, you think my disrobed demonstrations would be embarrassing do you? Well that's the last time I try to end a seige for you!

Actually the real reason is I can't go, got to study Just having a whinge that I'm gonna miss it. I hope NZ bats first

Umm embarrassing - heck no - I was just trying to empathise, and was putting myself in your brothers shoes (hope the're the same size). So the truth is out, you have to study. Gee, bad timing huh - you must have what - 2 or 3 exams each semester (Davros remembers having as many as 8 or 9 ).

I remember doing a first year physics exam at James Cook at 08:30 after going with a group of friends to the Casino till 3 am . The exam was optional (ie to improve your mark if you could), so I left after the obligatory half hour (was quickly obvious I wasn't going to get the 85% needed for a 7) and went back to the Casino.

Hope you are dodging those falling Jacaranda blooms - wouldn't want the powers of the flowers working against you .

Well that's all right then. You're spared my invective of what I REALLY think of your seige skills *cough*Davros couldn't beseige an open tent*cough*

I'm embarrassed now, I really do only have three exams But I have a take home exam for Philosophy, does that count? Gee that sounds even worse, (think, Aelia, think, give yourself some credibility)...

I'm not really fond of Jacarandas, not just because they strike fear into the hearts of students everywhere. They're all green, then suddenly, all purple. I like a larger ratio of green to colour on a flowering tree

I was right then - a whole 3 exams - what tyrants you have in the way of arts department lecturers . And a take home exam - sounds like a clayton's to me .

Now I am a little put out about the fact that I keep missing our disrobed division in action. It seems to me that all the action happens about 05:00-06:00 my time. I can perfectly understand why I am still sound asleep in my warm comfy bed at that hour. What I really can't fathom is how come you are up and about at that time. I mean you're only 2 hours ahead of me, so we're talking 07:00 - 08:00 hours. What self respecting arts student is up at that hour????? You certainly coudn't claim that you have ever needed to get up that early to attend lectures could you (unless you have some engineering electives you haven't told me about) .

Looks like I will be back in Brissie about the weekend of the 18th of May - have to see a friend get married . I am hoping that the Lions are playing at home that weekend, although knowing my luck it will probably be a Saturday night game . I also plan to call in on the folks (up in Mackay), and catch up with a few old classmates. Might be a good opportunity to say Hi in person if you feel like it.

I'd love to meet you in person! Be sure to bring a tasteful and expensive present, though, it's my 21st on the 14th

You keep forgetting - I'm first and foremost a science student! I despise arts students as much as any intelligent person ! And take-home exams aren't as bad as they sound, it's really three medium-sized essays that you get a week to do.

Yeah sorry, I wake up early, I can't help it. Actually my kitten has taken to waking me up at 4:00am lately, I don't appreciate that. But I can't sleep past 6:00am at the latest, no matter when I go to bed. But if I got up later, I'd never get to dance at all, Mel's usually gone by about 10:00am my time. And my darling brother uses the computer at night.

, 21st Birthday - hey, isn't that when you give out the presents.... whoops, forgot, that happens on your One Hundred and eleventy first doesn't it (a la Bilbo Baggins ). Sigh - more 21st birtday presents - I got to give one to all my class back at Sugar School (when I turned 21), then to about 10 more class mates at UQ. I had an Un-Twenty First Birthday party in 4th year so the class could buy me something for a change .

Ok, 14th, will keep that date in mind - tasteful and expensive huh - the first of those could test me a bit !!. Sorry about the never ending arts jokes - they are just too easy a target - have to start thinking of you as a science student who dabbles in the arts . I get up at quarter to 6 myself, and I just fielded a call from work already (sigh). Better go an iron me a shirt for the day.

Hehe, you don't really have to get me a present. Well maybe just some jewelry Or some sort of home entertainment equipment Or a yacht Whatever you decide

Sugar School? Is that where you learn how to 'gimme some sugar, baby' ? Oh, poor old Davros, old being the operative word. So busy learning how to give sugar he couldn't go to uni until after he was 21 Seems like a long time to have to learn about sugar Were you slow, or just pretending to be bad at it so the sugar teacher would give you remedial?
