Anyone have any hints on how to get by the nasty group under the temple district?, I think it is the bunch you need to kill to complete the theatre lady's quest. But I am not sure.
I cant get past them, even turning down the difficulty level. The mage just destroys my party using mind tricks and then its game over, I have tried to isolate my attacks on the mage but his henchman are also very strong. Any idea's ? Thanks. |

You don't need to fight them to complete the Railis/Haer'Dalis quest - if you're low lvl just go around them.
but to the tactics: buy the reflection shield at Adventures Mart - it will reflect all missiles back at the attacker start the fight with an initial 'barrage' of area-of-effect spells (such as fireball, cloudkill, holy smite, horror, web, stinking, cloud) retreat back to the entry to the sewers - have your front fighter use the reflection shield - take on the fighters as the emerge using missile weapons when the mage emerges wait for him to cast his protection spells - then retreat 'upstairs' and wait until they stop functioning - go back down and kill Hope this helps And welcome to IW

Gaius (the Mage) is the nasty one, as you can't buy any of the spells that can tear down his protections--you have to find those scrolls, which are usually located in various major quests, and by the time you get back from the quests, your party is Leveled Up enough to take down that gang without any spells at all.
Either try to draw the rest of their party away from the Mage (and then use missile weapons on him, so you can run away more easily when he casts something nasty), or just walk up and Backstab him before he gets any protections up.

Take them one by one. Position your people near the exit from the sewers - behind the corner so that the owners of ranged weapons cannot attack you directly and have to follow you. Send one of your guys to see the rubble and to tell it that you are not about to pay. Run back. Kill those which have followed you. Save. Take next guys from the rubble. Save. And so on.
At the end, only the mage and the priest will remain. Now, you have to waste their spells. Cast Chaotic Commands and Remove Fear on your guy. Send the guy to the mages. Let the mages cast. Run away. Heal. Save. And so on. (Naturally, you can do it better. This depends on your equipment and your current abilities.) The priest and the mage will run out of their spells eventually and they will follow you behind the corner. Kill them. One last thing. The mage casts Finger of Death. When you see the spell and when your guy does not survive it then cast Death Ward on him and repeat.

try summoning as many critters as u can. then sneak up till u can see them, it helps if u use hide in shadows. soon as u see them send in the beasties. repeat as nessecary. or try to draw them out by running a little distance
