Thoughts freeze
Emotion stops

Autumn softens the heart
Winter makes it sleep
Spring warms the long frozen feelings
And summer consumes the fire within
But now is the time to sleep...

Follwing the rules of the haiku:
5 syllables
7 syllables
5 syllables
Three lines.
Im not 100% but pretty sure that this is the way it goes.
I dont always follow the rules...poetic license or something like that.

No that cannot be... it is a haiku coz it IS a haiku due to those rules... there can be no such thing with well-known patterns and styles... some are very distinct and only links one author. Do that, and well... maybe we get toasted...

We rode the thunder, put flashes in the sky. We flew through the plains, sat at the waters edge. He hair was like a yellow sun. Glistened through the air.

AFTER NOON

I sit
on this solitary patch of newly-cut grass
that tickles the bare skin of my thigh
making me itch all over.
I stare
at the trees off in the distance,
their leaves rustling
in that unspoken language
I wish I could understand.
I turn
to face the wind
that whips my hair into a tangled mess,
stinging my face, my eyes.
I smile
as tiny pellets fall from the sky,
refreshing the thirst of my soul.
I wonder,
for all the beauty in the world,
why God cries.
