I did his quest, then I found him at the Inn upstairs later in chap 2. So I went to ask him to join and he gave me this huffy pissy attitude. So I re-asked him to join, got him in, took his swords than everyone jumped him..he tried to cast when He popeded..

Well, he has demonic blood in him, what do you expect?
 Personally, I've only used him once, and then only briefly. The Blade kit isn't very strong unless you want a rather inferior fighter. I would have preferred a Skald for the increased bardsong. His spellcasting is no picnic, either. Oh, well..I *have* heard that he does get better if you get to ToB with him, though. -Sazerac
