The elven fighter mage is easily the best character design yet especialy at higher levels, it can do anything that the bard can but far more effectively, in fact after a year of improvement as well as completing TOB twice with the character i can now kill Firkaarg in single combat, opinions???

Yes I completely agree... they are by far IMO the most powerful class... at top ToB level they can out cast a mage to time stop, then with improved alacrity the can tear a mage's defenses down in no time and then hack away at the mage himself (I am refering to duals) and in the game you can kill any oponent with generally the same tactic.....

Then why are people always raving about sorcerers, they are effective spellcasters yes but they are as flexible as a 2 by 4!!!!

Outcast a Mage? Rightttt. They both cast Time-Stop at the same speed, and note that your F/M cannot make full use of the PRATI tactic( Try summoning 100 Skeletons without resting easily and at any time without the need to rememorise spells).

Essentially, it will be a close fight. See who gets off their Time-Stop first.

"Look! A bee!"

"Where?!"

"Ohm-mani-"

"Damn! I'm two verses behind!"

And I would like to see a F/M sing a song. Using Misled and the Improved Bard Song( use the image) and Offensive Spin, a Blade is formidable and invisible.

That said and done, all three are strong, but you got to know what tactics to use with them. None are weak.

Yes, the F/M is a good class indeed, but it is absolutely not as good as the Cavalier, IMO.

Well this is my first time through for BG2 and I rolled up a fighter/mage. I was wondering if I'll come across better bracers and rings, et. al. to improve my A.C. later in the game. On occasion I'll have him melee', but he is more of a archer/spell user at this point. Your suggestions are most welcome!

Remember, a F/M is half mage. Use spells like Blur, Mirror Image, Stoneskin, Improved Invisibility, Tensor Transformation, etc... to add to your melee abilities.

Hmmm I was definately expecting you to disagree with what I said... but Prati is easily improved with an f/m because of one WICKED item... dakkons Zerth Blade... it increases you spell casting speed by +2... and a normal mage cant use it... which means in a dual a F/M will cast spells faster than a mage/sorcerer

so Robe of Vecna, Amulet of Power & Dakkons Zerth Blade(2 when played a second time round ) make a MUCH more deadly power than a sorcerer... of course this is IMO... but I have tested it and it works

Come again? Dak'kon's Zerth Blade reduces casting time by 2? This is not stated anywhere in the item description.
