It's impossible to get 14 attacks per round.
AFAIK, the Infinity Engine limits attacks/round to 10.

I noticed i couldn't squeeze any more out of whirlwind attack, which screws over any character dual wielding, but I'm almost positive I had 14 with Valygar around lvl 20-21, he also had the boots of speed and Blem in his offhand (normally only gives 1 extra attack, regardless of specialization, but with belm it gives 2 for off-hand.

Forgive this newbie-ish question, but how does attacks per round work?

ok. this is how it works. The maximum you can get as shown on the screen and actually in the game without spell help is 4/round, but that is with the Grandmastery Baldurdash patch and dual-wielding. The game will actually allow up to 5 non-magically, which is how Melf'f Minute Meteors get you up to 5. Whirlwind attack gives you 5 attacks/round, but Improved Hastes you, so you actually get 10/round, since IH doubles your attacks per round. IE doesn't allow more than 10/round. However, you can increase your movement rate and decrease round length. Thus, you could have 14 attacks per 6 seconds, but that would still only be 7/round, but rounds would be 3 seconds long. That is how the boots of speed work (well, the fixed and patched ones, at least). Whirlwind Attack says that it will not work with hasting magics, and that is true. If you have unpatched Boots of Speed, you will only get 5 attacks/round unless you take them off. Half of the Whirlwind is the Improved Haste, which is why your characters walk really really fast when it's activated (and why the IH icon shows up on your pic).
Note that a Dual-wielding with Grandmastery and the patch, and using the Gauntlets of Extrodinary Specialization will give you 4.5 attacks/round.

Half-attacks are used because it's easier. When you talk about attacks/round, the game actually calculates them as attacks/2 rounds. When you have 3/2 attacks/round, you take 1 attack in the first round, and 2 in the second. Non-fighter types (mages, druids, thieves, etc.) cannot get more than 1 attack/round without magical help, unless they are dual- or multi-classes fighter-types. EDIT: The Boots of Speed and Grandmaster Armor +6 double movement rate, but do not affect attacks/round. [ 05-16-2002, 09:45 AM: Message edited by: Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs ]

Ok .. so if im not mistaken :
after lvl, i have a base of 2 attacks. Weapons specialisation, in both katana's and long swords .. get me 1/2 attack each ... and another 1/2 attack each at ***** (i think).. Plus the xtra 1/2 atatck for dual-wielding means 4.5 attacks ... 2+ 5* 0,5 = 2 + 2,5 = 4,5 Is this wrong ?
