I thought it's a known fact - the Amulet of Power DECREASES casting time - which means...

Actually, AFAIK, it is the only item the speeds up casting time for priests in the ENTIRE game...

Well I am totally confused right now. They way I see it: Casting time is set at 6 (for example), decrease this by 1(meaning: making it less) and you will have 5. On the other hand; The description of The robe of Vecna says; IMPROVES casting speed. So why would the designers use two different words for the same thing? It makes no sense to me...

OK, first of all on the Amulet thing...Decrease means to make it faster, Increase means to make it slower. So the Amulet of Power decreases the casting time, therefore improving the speed.

That's the only item accessible to clerics. Mages have the robe of vecna (and get truly rediculous if you give them the amulet of power with it).

Thanx I was really depressed a few minutes ago cause Viconia has been wearing the amulet for ages.

Basically, its just a case of inconsisitency. Lowering the casting time is identical to speeding it up. (i.e. improving it)

Also, the amulet of power is indeed the only item that improves priest casting times, although in the underdark, you can use drow adamantine chain mail which also improves casting times by 1, although this is only a temporary solution.

Damn, I've got to go to bed now, it's 04:12 in the Uk at the mo, and the kebab I've just eaten is starting to repeat on me
