Anyone play/played this?
Seems like kind of 3d Diablo 2 - not that I mind. Playing as seraphim, lovin' it.

D*Ranged, can you give us an idea of play and plot? I'm looking for something to carry me through what has become an RPG desert.

As for the plot, you bash orcs then bash demons. Sounds simple, eh? ![]() It however is non-linear unlike diablo 2 though!

I played it and gave up. Played it again with the intention of absolutely NOT stopping until i'd finished it and gave up again at about the same spot. Whilst technically it may not be linear, it's all pretty darn similar.

It is definitely alot more sub-quest and story driven than both Diablos with certainly a much larger world to explore and more dialogue. Two hours of wandering around can sometimes barely raise your map exploration percentage at all and whilst I could complete Diablo 2 in a weekend (only done that twice though thankfully...that's enough) Sacred Plus took me at least a week and a half to complete the first time with the Gladiator. Have also done it with the Wood Elf and have a solid Battle Mage for multiplayer action with my brother.
I actually bought Sacred+ first, but picked up Sacred Gold fairly recently (which has the Underworld Expansion) for a mere $9.95 AUS. Left clicks are normal attacks but once you can create your own special combinations for the right clicks courtesy of some nice class based abilities. Tokens for these can be traded in for combat ability icons of your own class to a 'combo master'. These are pretty well key to achieving any sense of mass-obliteration in the game. Plot wise its not that much to speak of, though I must confess to not having played the expansion part yet. To me, it simply takes Diablo derived gameplay and expands upon it in a variety of ways, the variety of combos being its main feature. I find it can get easy a little quickly on the 'bronze' difficulty level, but silver seems to raise the bar well. Whilst the map does tend to spoon feed you as to which way you need to go for the main plot points, there were enough sub-quests away from the main plot to keep me entertained and again, the gameworld is quite large. So I think its at least worth a look if the style has some appeal to you. I found it was an easy distraction to wade in and out of to break up my infinity engine cravings. I really enjoyed sacred. Some of the subplots could be annoying ( the mail delivery quest was a pain) and some of them were fairly repetitious, but there was something about a dual Axe of pain wielding glad wading into a group of undead that was very satisfying. I understand there is a Sacred 2 in the works with different characters. ( Only the seraphim will be coming back though)

I have mixed feelings about it. Some of the player characters appealed to me, but most I hated. Overall I didn't like the models too much. I also didn't like the camera, I thought the default zoom was too close, and the one after it was too high.
But I never played it much, because I had blurry scrolling issues with it, when the screen move I'd see all the pixels blur, and it would make me feel sick. The game was only sharp when I wasn't moving. I tested the game on 3 computers with no luck. Maybe I just have better eyes than most people and can see faster than the game update it's pixels, but my brother tried the game too and had the same problem. Sounds like you were just plain unlucky to me, Luvian. And I can see just fine, thank you.
![]() Whilst I don't have a powerful machine and did experience some slow-down in heavily populated city areas, it wasn't enough to make the game unplayable. I actually like the fact that the characters you can choose from aren't altogether stereotypical for the genre and tie in with the races of the gameworld. Whilst punishment for death is negligable in the game, there are enough big encounters scattered around the world (dragons, giant spiders) to make combat feel very epic at times. Might get stuck into Underworld next week - has anyone finished it here?
