Most people like it. I only played Halo and I though it was decent, but a bit over rated really. It starts well but gets a bit boring. I found the flood quite tedious to fight.

Apparently Halo 2 is more of the same with great multiplayer. The ending is also supposed to be terrible as well. I heard it ends really abruptly.

Halos great strength has always been multiplayer.

Having said that, I enjoyed the single-player campaign, though it did get tedious at points. The setting is fantastic and the byplay from NPCs such as Cortana or 343-Guilty Spark was fun. I also got a kick out of the Covenenant grunts yelling out "he's unstoppable" or "here he comes again!". (at least, the first 100 times they said it. )
