I'm about to add Barbarian Invasion to my RTW game, but there appears to be a slight problem. I have the latest version of the Total Realism mod installed, and the addon requires a fresh RTW installation. However, i don't want to lose the mod, so i figured i'd install RTW again, just in another directory, so that i basically have two versions of RTW installed, one for my Total Realism campaign, and one for the addon. Apparently it doesn't work that way, because when i insert the disc in the drive i only get the options "play" and "uninstall", and when i manually start the setup procedure, i'm asked if i'm sure if i want to totally remove RTW and all it's components, and that's not exactly what i'm looking for either.

So how do i get two versions of one and the same game installed on my harddrive ? Is it even possible ?

Try to load the setup program directly from the CD, rather then through the autoplay. That might work.

Did that, to no effect. Then i'm asked if i'm sure if i want to uninstall RTW.

Hm.. well, I know it is possible. Because for some reason, I have two different installs of Rome:TW on my HD. Perhaps you should try to install under a different XP user acount? Just a wild stab in the dark, of course.

It's either a stab in the dark or a wild guess Dreamer

Ah.. but I didn't the think the term 'stab in the dark' quite covered my absolute cluelessness at that moment. I felt like adding an exageration to poke fun at my desperation.

Well, my combined "Grojlach and Melusine" moment was something new for me as well. It doesn't happen a lot that I feel the need to correct someone else's spelling - I hardly use grammatically correct English myself (sic!). Hell, I bang my head against the walls everytime I read some of my older posts on Ironworks. Some of the words and sentences used therein are so toe-bending ( just had to use that translation ) that it's not funny anymore.

Heh.. I know exacly what you mean. A while ago I ran into my first post here, which is several years old. At that moment, I felt like registering under a different name just so I could go and flame myself for the poor grammar.

Well, my English is still of a highschool level, but then again...that's as far as i went with school, i've been expelled more times than i'd like to admit. We can't all be a spelling genius, no ? And as long as i'm making myself clear, i couldn't care less if my spelling is 100% correct or not.

More ontopic...i've decided to uninstall the whole circus, i wasn't too happy with the gameplay in this particular version of Total Realism anyway. The units looked really good, but the Sicily-Italy landbridge never made sense to me, so i'm taking one step back to a previous version of TR, with less goodlooking units, but a better gameplay. That is AFTER playing Barbarian Invasion, which requires a clean RTW install. I'm not even sure if it's okay to install the 1.2 patch before installing BI, but i guess i'll find out soon enough. *shrug*

Edit: found a typo, i just had to correct that.

I think you write English better than the average John Doe (well, "Jan Modaal" for us). On top of that, I've seen far worse here in Ironworks, even if it's a Dutchie. Posts that made me hear Melusine's teeth grind all the way from Amsterdam to here

Mind you, I'm only talking about writing English, not speaking English. As far as I'm concerned, I don't want to touch that subject with a ten-foot pole

I'll stop now, been derailing this topic for three posts now!! The horror, the absolute horror! I've actually upped my postcount significantly with this mumbo-jumbo
