Rome total war questions

i have 2 questions.

first: how can i switch persian cavalry from archery to melee mode? (without running out of arrows first).

second: when will i be able to play as all nations? i would like to play as macedonians, but the game won't let me (i have finished the house of july and carthage. now on my way with parthians).

1) Press and hold down ALT while selecting the target to attack.
2) You can't normally, but there's a file you can edit which lets you nonetheless. There are also some other overrides and modifications out there to the same effect.

Rome Total Realism will let you play as said factions.

Yeah Black Baron, go with the Total Realism mod, it's much better than the original campaign. You can choose any side right from the start.

Uhh, actually, there is no SPQR in RTR. Sorry to piss on your parade.
