Gran Turismo 2 for PS2, I agree with you there Sir Degrader. You're in the lead for a victory that you really need, and you spin out on an easy turn. Aghh.

Sea Dogs - Any time you had to engage in melee to take another ship. That was the worst instance of bad controls I've ever seen, hands down. Arrrrgh.

Daggerfall - This was killer because it was hyped so much, and so groundbreaking in a number of ways, but so bugged in every other way. I remember falling through the world in dungeons that I hadn't saved in (for fear of being lost forever), only to be undone by actually falling through the cracks of the floor into the IMPENDING CRASH zone. If you didn't load before you hit that, your computer would freeze. And your computer might freeze just for kicks anyway. Graashhh.

The old gold box games - how much copy protection does a game need? One of them had that wheel...others made you look up X word in Y journal (which would totally give away that journal topic). Hmm, what sound does a manual thrown accross the room make?

Any rainbow six game - Geez one hostage killed and it's game over. I'm willing to accept that loss to not have to go through 35 minutes of careful precision room clearing in the same level again. Those games and I have a love-hate relationship, and it's fairly unhealthy.

World War 2 Online - The game that went the furthest I've ever seen to try to create realism, with its ballistics models, damage model incorporating tank radiators, fuel tanks, ammo storage, etc, flight physics and true-to-life May 1940 equipment, turned out to me more of a boredom and anxiety simulator. "When am I going to die?" I'm all for realism of fun things to simulate, but they fully simulated the boredom of waiting for the Germans to strike - if they will at all.

I'm sure there's more, but I can only get so crazy at work without someone noticing, lol.
Daggerfall... yep, got to give you that. Although turning into a wereboar was funny as you like. One minute you're walking around, next minute no one will talk to you and all you can hear is grunting. Looking at the character protrait reveals all LOL! Oh and the way out of the falling through floors was to tap ALT+F11 and that would get you back to place you fell through. It was always a good idea to cast slowfall first though as when you re-appeared you were still travelling at the velocity you were falling at.... *SPLAT* straight into the dungeon floor.

Gold Box games? They were GREAT! What more can one ask than to suddenly have to look up some obscure word in a manual as you're trying to save and knowing you only have 3 tries before it exits without saving.

Ak! I forgot to put the games I hate the most, so here goes:
Pools of Radiance Ruins of Myth Drannor - whoever programmed this should be SHOT! With an ELEPHANT GUN! The worst movement system in the entire song of which our universe is but a part!
*calms down slightly*
Battlecruiser 3000 - This game had more patches than Daggerfall (it's true!) and they finally allowed it to be downloaded from the net for free as it was that bad. I'm still not talking to my friend who recommended it - and that was 10 years ago
Hmmm...What else?
Wing Commander I was pretty bad.

Can't think of anymore at the moment

UPDATE: Diablo 2 - it was *such* a let-down after the first one.

lol dominions. Don't think that I hate all of those games, or any of them. I enjoyed several aspects of them, even finished most, but they did all give me temporary insanity with frustration at some point. Pool of Radience (the original gold box) was actually one of my favorites. Is that white dragon from Champions of Krynn?

I remembered another: Lords of Magic. Does anyone remember waiting for your turn, when you're playing single player? That thing took forever, and each turn you could barely even move. That, of course, lead to more waiting.

Daggerfall- I get a quest to find the kidnapped girlfriend of a fellow fighter's guild member. I find a note that says she is being held in dungeon "X". I go to dungeon "X"; go up and down the whole convoluted place and find only 3 rats in the entire dungeon... Grrrrrr

I gave up on the game after that.

Oh, I have absolutely NO problems with the gold box games. I love them, in fact. I'm creating a NWN module based on Champions of Krynn which I've almost finished. It has 170+ areas and follows the full plot.

Yes, the dragon is the one out of champions of krynn from Throtl. I captured it frame by frame with the PrintScreen key and then used a gif creator to pin the frames together . I've got the hobgoblin one here somewhere as well.

Pools of Radiance Ruins of Myth Drannor is *not* the same game as Pools of Radiance released by SSI in 1990ish. The original had some style. The modern version would be classed as a WMD (Weapon of Mass Disappointment)

NHL 99 I think. Great great game. But then the players made stupid moves, and the opponent seemed to get the puck into the net and it drove me nuts! I kept on punching my PC Chair... wow we're violent now aren't we.

Diablo II.
After having defeated a rather strong and difficult boss, and receiving ALOT of gold, some major quest items and a really rare weapon (and being totally out of inventory space), I dumped my entire inventory onto the ground so that I could decide what items were most important and should be taken back to my storage crate first.

In minor celebration of the battle that had taken me so many tries, I went to get a drink from the fridge. about this time my brother walks past the computer, decides he wants to listen to some music so goes to menu and selects "Save and Exit"

two things about Diablo II..... when you save and exit a game, any items left on the ground are lost forever when you come to reload the next time. Furthermore, you only get ONE save file, so if you screw up, there is no option to roll back to a previous one. So yeah, my game was totally ruined.

I was so furious at the game I uninstalled it right after, and threw the (albeit burned) game disk across the room, vowing never to look at it again.

No words can express how furious I was at the game for being so ridiculously poorly designed in this respect. For a while I was angry at my brother... but he was young, and did not know what he was doing, and so I came to forgive him. But not the game... they knew perfectly well what they were doing when they made the damn thing.

Oh, that thing was designed to waste your time hayaku lol.

I've got a new one I'm angry with. I'm playing XCOM 2: Terror from the Deep again, waiting for Xenocide to get out of Alpha. It's the third month and there's a terror strike on a shipping vessel, so I fly my best team (after only 3 months mind you) out to earn some points, and this fight was *brutal*. They used a technology called Molecular Control, which berserks or completely takes over your men on me, in MARCH of the first year! That's usually later, but that's what I get for playing on one of the harder levels. So I fight this awful battle, losing some men to my own more weak-willed ones, having to tazer one of my own guys, and fighting Calcinites at nearly point blank range through these little rooms and tiny hallways. Battle over, about 2 hours later, it was hell.

These missions, unfortunately, have 2 levels, so once you're done you continue to the next one. The problem is that the game doesn't bother to keep track of your spent ammunition!! One shot fired from a gas rifle? Whole clip is now missing. Shot fired from a sonic pistol, of 20? THat's gone to. So I'm facing basically the same battle, but now over half of my squad has no ammunition. You'd think that I would have brought more, but in this game, one shot generally kills, and in a squad of 14 it's never an issue, plus you have to find the alien weapons or use up limited materials to make more. As the last annoyance, when you knock an alien unconscious your scientists get to research/probe for new information that you can't get from their corpses, and I actually managed to knock a Calcinite out. It doesn't calculate anything that was dropped on the first floor, so it's gone. I load, put him in my backpack (lol), and in the next floor it's dead. I can't catch a break.

Maybe it's time to let them have this ship, because this ammo thing really took me out of the fight.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I cannot, for the life of me, get past that stupid Fire Temple. No matter how hard I tried, I always died about 5 minutes in. Also, the Forest Temple in the same game. I couldn't find the stupid room with the pictures to finish it. I was wandering around in there for 2 hours before I found it!
