Geez the Seleucids are good if you can hang on and get through those first few years of strife - I'm rolling in dinarii with all my high-trading coastal cities like Antioch, Sidon, Tarsus and Alexandria, plus lots of trade coming from the east as well - and once you've got stable borders (ie eliminated Egypt, Pontus, Greece, Parthia, Armenia and Macedon) you can sit back and rake in the cash, and keep building staggeringly huge armies of elephants, scythed chariots, pikemen, peltasts and cataphracts. I've got my eye on Numidia and Scythia next, then I'm going after the Germans and the Gauls.

Same happened to me when i played with the Greek cities. I never got to finish that campaign for a reason i can't even remember, but i do recall that the last time i played i had over 2.500.000 Dinarii, and every turn i got richer and richer.

Started playing Macedonians, really tough start, they have funky accents so it is fun to listen to there speeches, sounds like an old boss of mine. and I love the colour of the uniforms. Black and Red.
I had one battle in which I was declared having a minor victory, even though I got beaten badly. The Greeks had all those spearmen, and archers, I had mostly calvery. So after taking out what I could including there powerful general, the spearmen had all my troops fleeing from battle. My only unit I had left was my general and his men so I put the speed on high and made them chase me around the map until time ran out, and I won. I guess it was because they were the aggressor and could not push me from my position on the map (it was not a town battle), I lost more troops in terms of kills, and fleeing. I really don't feel like I won that battle as everybody on my side were cowards, although I did get some satisfaction from taking out the general. I like those Seleucid scythed chariots - they do MASSIVE damage compared to their cost and manning. Four chariot units (36 men) decimated an army of 400+ Greek hoplites - basically they're like really big, nasty versions of wardogs. Just make sure none of your own guys are in the way or they will get decimated too.

Btw... does anyone know what those Greek dudes are saying when you pick up or move an army on the worldmap ? It sounds something like "stratti-oz" or something. It obviously has the same meaning as the Roman's "General" or the Carthaginian's "mighty one", but i wanna know what it is exactly.
Anyone ?

It's strategos, which means General in Greek (and Seleucid).

Just discovered another nice feature of this game over the holidays. For each town you can zoom in to the war map see all your buildings and citizens walking around. While this is nice for aesthetics, it can be also strategic as well to let you actually see the type of walls before battle and the easiest routes to take to the center of town. I found it a nice break touring a city from gameplay.
