how can you NOT like Saemon? sure, he's a low-down, double-crossing, self-absorbed good-for-nothing scoundrel, but so is Han Solo, and everybody loves him! he even makes it up to you in the end, provided you were forgiving and didn't kill him. the more i think about it, the more i realize he IS like Han Solo. (minus the Mauser made into a blaster, of course) it's people like Saemon that make BGII a great experience; because he's a real person, not some cardboard bad guy like Irenicus.

As for you, Telchar of Nogrod, you have betrayed the eternal Roleplaying Perspective, and thus the entire idea of Baldur's Gate! Hang your head in shame! Paladins are forgiving above all else, and do not believe in revenge! I hope your memory is erased and an ogre mage uses your cds to clean up his cow dung! All false and evil acts catch up to you, ESPECIALLY when you cross the Roleplaying Perspective!

(kinda scary, huh? )

Great reply Gothmog! (laughing loudly) Man, this is fun stuff. I happen to disagree about your view on rollplaying. I've been playing AD+D since the 70's. Roleplaying is what you make of it. It's how YOU view the role. It's about human emotion that can not be denied. I see a Paladin as having to battle his impure half. He's not divine. He has to battle with his desire for revenge or whatever else is troubling him. Sometimes you loose and sometimes you win. It's that battle that makes playing a Paladin so fun and challenging. If there is no choice or battle, then you are not being realistic. If I forgave Saemon, then why not forgive everyone else. It's human emotion that drives us on. I love Saemon's charactor too. It's one of the best in the game. It's what motivated me to have some fun and share my story. It's my homedge to BioWare for creating such a great charactor. I just hoped that people would enjoy it and hopefully motivate people to put some passion into their roleplaying.

paladins very restrictive code of morals can make them rather tedious to play (if you decide to be the ´perfect´ knight they are expected to be) or they can be one of the most interesting classes in the game (if you play them as someone who´s close to breaking - or bending - under the strain, or at least struggling with it).
my most enjoyable ad&d character ever was a disillusioned paladin always on the verge of falling from grace as she lost herself in drink, despair and self-loathing.
